Just went into Boaters World for my magazine fix today. On the cover of Novembers Northwest Yachting is a great picture of the FaCdory Guys 22' crusier crossing the Columbia Bar. A must see for C-dory fans. I don't know if I would enjoy the ride, but it gives me a good feeling to see just what our boats can take.

Here's a whole series of CR Bar pics and those crazies running it!!

They probably wouldn't be able to do it this afternoon, though. Even in a C-Dory.

PZZ210-020515- COLUMBIA RIVER BAR-

...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ROUGH COLUMBIA RIVER BAR IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

What amazes me about those photo's is that:
1. There was somebody else out there in another boat taking those shots.
2. The calmness of Rich in the cockpit.
3. Or were they taken from a land sight with a loooonnnngggg lens and thus increasing the apparent wave height.

Suppose there is an explanation in the cover photo box on the inside?

Harvey, I talked to Scot last year at the Factory party and he told me he and the photographer were on a larger boat taking the pictures. Big Mac

With the appearance of this photo of one of our little boats on the cover of this magazine, I suspect the value of our boats just increased 10 fold!

Guess, I should have purchased more C-Dorys and less mutual funds... :wink

Neil Rabinowitz is the photographer that took this picture. He is the photographer that flew up and took the pictures of Anna Leigh and Daydream on our return trip from Ketchikan which were featured in the Feb 2007 issue ofMotor Boating Magazine.

Thanks for the link. That is a great picture of the C-Dory 22. Last June, I turned away from the Columbia Bar due to waves half that size. Big coward I is.

There's an article about three Devlins cruising The Inland Passage. One of them is a 29 foot Black Crown, just two expensive feet larger than mine, with a considerably larger engine.

Do you have any links to that article?

(BTW....I am now "crewed" and the FSO-Secy. My wife will be FSO-Communications. We're attending the BS&S class along with my 16 yr. old son. It's one of his prerequisites toward operating the ski boat with his pals. Joining the CGA was one of the smartest things I've ever done.)

Wonder if anybody noticed the full page C-Dory ad on the inside (page 27) With a nice photo of a 25 "Viking Lady" running away. It took a couple of looks to find the difference, (the nose job on the "lady" looked different. Sure enough, a bit on the photo albums confirmed that it was not a standard feature, but is actually there.

Nice boat, just curious if anyone else noticed, and if the "Viking Lady" owner ever shows up here? Also wondered if the bow pulpit extension is now a factory standard or option?

Wondering eyes you know, :wink

I just looked at Motor Boating Mags website and there doen't seem to be any archived editions. It was in the Feb 2007 issue. Neil flew over us in a helicopter for about a half hour while we chased each other around a small island above Cape Caution, B.C.

Pat may have a picture on his computer. I can't find any on mine.

Harvey's reference to the nose job on Viking lady got my attention and I went to the album to look. The earliest pictures, including those of the boat in the water with electronics and a dinghy do not show the bow pulpit. It looks like it was added later rather than during construction.

I added a pulpit to my Nordic Tug 32 using a teak pulpit from Butler Marine (www.butlermarine.com). It was an easy addition although you do have to be very sure that the deck will withstand the leverage and that you do not extend the platform out too far. I added it because the Nordic Tug had a very plumb stem and if you were not careful, launching the anchor would ding it. I did not modify the bow rail.

That is what I was referring to. Appeared pretty non-stock to me, and it is the only one I have seen, (although I'm sure there could be more somewhere) It just seemed odd to show that style in a C-Dory ad. (At least to me.)

I first went to the photo albums to see if the "Viking Lady" was actually in there. And it is.

Nice shot anyway,

Hi Harvey and everyone - couldn't resist going down to pick up a copy of the November Northwest Yachting publication to check out the ad. Gosh, was I surprised to see the Suzuki's on the Viking Lady! Michele and I purchased the Viking Lady in April of 2007 from the original owner and have not known her to ever have a power system other than the twin Honda 90's. Nothing in the Captains Log would suggest any power plant changes. Guess maybe some photo technologies may have been used here. I'll ask the folks at the factory when I'am over next.

As regards the bow pulpit, I believe it was added at the request of the owner and perhaps at the disclaimer of the folks at the factory. I have sensed from comments made that the pulpit wasn't the easiest fix, but I could be wrong as nothing was specifically stated. Unfortunately we have not used the anchor system alot but there is hope for the next season. One thing for sure, it certainly seems to 'stick out' whenever we get around anything valuable!!

With respect to the C-Brat site - I lingered a lot when we were in the decision making stage of buying a C-Dory and I have been a constant 'interloper' since. This is just such a great site and it's evident the folks who hang out here are fine folks who either know a lot about boats and boating or are trying to learn more about them. Michele and I are certainly in the latter group. Soon we may even have learned enough to ask some reasonably responsible questions! Thanks to everyone who so willingly shares here, I hope you realize your appreciated !

Ron, thanks for the feedback here. You are welcome, and we will keep an eye out for another "local" C-Brat. Good to hear about your boat.

Absolutely nothing gets by you guys. :)

You are correct, the engines on Viking Lady were digitally repowered to Suzuki 90's. Reasons being that the two NW dealers are Suzuki dealers and not Honda dealers, and Suzuki was willing to pay for part of the ad if it had their engines and logos.

I can't speak for Master Marine, but at this point the boats we are ordering are coming in without power so that buyers can choose single or twin installation, and at our shop choice of Evinrude E-Tec, Suzuki, Yamaha or Honda (rigged by the factory).

We're excited to be representing this line of boats.

In addition, let me say "Hi" here. My name is Matt, some of you may know my Byline from Sea Magazine, or moderator of their online powerboat forum at www.goboating.com, but my day job is as the Sales Manager at Kitsap Marina.

Not wanting this response to be an ad, just thought it was a good place to step in, say Hi, and let you know we're here.
