C Brats YouTube Channel

I also agree with Sunbeam. This C-Brats site is already a great central forum for our boats. Like many others, I do not do Facebook or any of the new age social media programs. I love technology but don't have a desire to be that connected. I must admit through, my wife does Facebook and I do cheat and look at it from time to time (and she knows this so I can't get in trouble for the admission). I do enjoy the video links folks post here on C-Brats and have had no problem accessing them. I know this means double work for those who post them, but I would hate to see C-Brats diminished in importance to the C-Dory community. Just my 2-cents worth...

Richard M: Good post. I'm 34 years old!

Guys, I wasn't trying to change anything! I just wanted to make a YouTube channel where we can all put our boat and boat related videos on. That's it. End of story. It's a simple thing. Sorry if I upset anyone over all of this. Totally not my intention.

Jason... I'm definitely not upset, nor do I think anyone else is, so please don't think there is any sort of problem. I love ideas that facilitate our communication and sharing - we all obviously love our boats and enjoy this camaraderie. I just hope we assure that whatever forums members use we work to preserve C-Brats as our center point.

+1 :thup :D

I think Rob expressed things well (better than I did in my sort of fragmented post above - had a long day and guess I was tired). In my opinion, there is no problem at all in making a suggestion and discussing it. So even though I would prefer it a different way than you (links from here), I'm not upset and hope you aren't either.

One possible idea (since many folks who make videos like to have them on their own channel anyway) is to have a thread here with the specific purpose of containing links to various videos. Maybe that would be useful to folks who want to binge watch (and I mean that in a good way!) C-Dory videos? I would hope folks would still link to them in context (in threads), but then if they (or other Brats) wanted to they could drop a link in the "Video link thread." I wouldn't mind doing that when I see one (I sometimes do a similar thing for photos in threads where someone isn't sure how to post a photo from an album).

Or maybe Tyboo and DaNag have a better idea?

Whichever, It's great to have you here with your new-to-you 19 and your enthusiasm :thup

(And geez, if we all agreed on this next thing you know I suppose we'd be trying to agree on anchors  )

I am on the flip side and work at a public health lab, and see a lot of advantages using all forms of communication to reach our citizens and has become part of my personal life as a result. m2cw that we use is try something new and check on daily hits and any feedback. We find pushing info is more effective . On this forum there is a great feature - Notify me when a reply is posted, very useful.

We like our content optimized for cell phones and tablets ,too

All good points and discussion from everyone. very useful for folks are in the pushing info business

Look at it this way: There has been a "Facebook page" since at least Dec 2013, and no-one got upset about it. It is one of the best marketing tools available--and unfortunately NorthWest Industries, does little marketing.

It probably does bring people in to be at least interested in C Dorys, and C Brats!
I find FaceBook, a great way for my children/grandchildren (they use something I have never heard of) a great way to spread photos, social information, things to do etc to hundreds of their friends. My son in law is at the pinnacle of his chosen profession due to social media.

Certainly a C Brat U Tube Channel would do the same.

Sure, it's generational. I sympathize ... a little. I'm 70 myself. But nobody now in college ever saw a world without cell phones. Nobody under 35 can imagine a world without computers. More than half of those under 27 are smartphone-only and will never need a landline into their house or apartment. So unless we want to adopt the motto "C-Dory: Boats for Geezers,"

I don't think it is "generational"--Although some of us may be "Geezers" . At age 80 that is a term of endearment! I suspect you will find that many of us are first adaptors, and even pioneers in various fields, and would never fault technology. Any of my negative feelings is due to what I might call "dumb" actions or statements often made in the various social media--not the media itself. We don't see that type of action by C Brats. Certainly U Tubes of C Dory adventures would be a good further selling point.

I don't see how Facebook or U Tube would in any way degrade the quality or experience of C Brats as a forum. U Tube, which was what was suggested, will give a specific place to put videos, and it would enhance both the image, and the experience of C Brats.

I agree with Jason. His only intention was to ask if any one was interested in posting their C-Dory videos on one channel on YouTube. I'm not exactly sure why the discussion strayed to FB and the other social media venues.

For the record, I'm all for a YouTube channel featuring C-Dory videos.

I think a Youtube channel is a good idea. A single place where C-Brats can post their videos. No one has to participate and it does not change this 'C-Brats' website.

As to using the 'C-Brat' name on a Youtube channel, you should contact Tyboo and/or Da Nag by either PM or email. They are the 'owners' of this site and can advise you on using the 'C-Brat' name.

If the honchos give their approval, you might get a link to the Youtube channel on the front page.

Like hosting a gathering, the person who brings up the idea gets the job, so, South of Heaven, it could be you.
