Well the time has finally gotten here! Myself and road trip C-Brat friend Terry/Last Dance from NY are jumping in the cab of the Excursion in the morning to start the journey from the Nashville, TN area to Oak Harbor WA. We have ended up at the Seattle Boat Show gathering the last few years and had a blast...and we feel this road trip will be too.. :thup :smiled

Dec 2003 I first made this trip to pick up FreeByrd, my second C-Dory. Oh how many friendships/places and gatherings since those earlier days.

Thanks to all who have been part of this journey...the whole journey. This C-Brat site has truly made my life and boating much more enjoyable.

Maybe we will see some of you along the way, or in the water next weekend. I hope so. Our basic broad brush travel to Oak Harbor, WA is to be in Spokane, WA Wednesday night, get up Thursday morning, make a good portion of the beautiful Cascade Moutain Loop, and descend onto SENSIE (Roger & Beth Johnson) prior to making a trek over to EQ.

Hope to see yall on the way there ...and/or back!

Byrdman.... :note Here I go.. On the road again....turn the page :note

We're hopping into the Tundra this am also, heading off to the NW, too. Been in Colorado Mountains (Ah, the Rocky Mtn. High) for a week-long camping/fishing/kayaking time with the family, and now, 'On The Road Again".

Visiting a few friends en route and then to have engines serviced in Bellingham on Thursday. Friday, meet up with Daydream, and head over to Pend d'Oreille in northern Idaho.

Maybe we'll cross routes along the way with you guys. Sure would enjoy seeing the two of you en route. You'all have a great and safe ride and maybe wakes will cross.

OK... so now it is 515am... I have let him sleep in for a bit... Let's hit the road!!

Hope to see some of yall in the water around the Deseption Pass area this coming weekend!!

YYYYEEEEEEEEHHHHHAAAAA.... On the road again...

Just about time to splash ol Aloysius.. :thup

Great Road Day on Monday. Covered right at 800 miles, stopped overnight in Sioux City, IA. Plans to land/arrive in Bozeman, MT, about 888 miles from here.

Got ph msg from Bill & El last night....but got it late, so will call a bit later this morning on the road.

Got a nice call from Les yesterday on the road...things coming together well on his end.... Much excitement..... Les and I agreed on this deal at the Seatle boat show in Jan... so we have been working this a while. Glad we are getting close to splash time.

Now... a few years ago, one of my Seattle area friends asked me about our southern grown tommatows... I have two home growns with me (tommatows  ).... but I can not recall who wanted them.

They may make the rest of the trip... I keep hearing them call our name in the truck...around sandwich time.

Byrdman & Terry.... On the road again!!

Well,

I guess the new boat is not a C-Dory, and Byrdman must be reluctant to post off brand photos and info.

This brings up an important consideration for C-Brats. Shouldn't we be open to ppl who buy other boats as long as their posts are not rabid, competing ads for other brands?

The Marine Trader site, years ago, opened it's arms to owners of any trawlers, any brand, any size.

I know C-Dory is a great boat, but lots of us trade boats thru out our lives. We don't want to lose the great friends from this site just because one of their boats is not a C-Dory, Do we?

I don't think the byrdman is purposely 'hiding' that his new boat is not a C-Dory. I saw the words months ago but forgot the make, did a quick check and found this (and many other references):

Jack... Much like you I have and had been asking C-Dory for about 5 years to build such a boat from either their CD25 when they were about to re-introduce it, when they came out with the updated CR-21-EC & CR25...now the Ranger Tug 25...for an Angler version. I wanted to stay with C-Dory on this boat. As things have changed and progressed, and from the answers I received from them after owning 3 C-Dory boats.... I was told it was not going to happen...so, I looked elsewhere.

Take a look at the Rosborough RF-246 Custom Wheelhouse.

I am putting one of these together with some custom work as we speak. Will send you and any others interested pics and talk in time, but right thru this gap, long hours in the shop, and much travel. Things will slow down for a bit more emailing/web time in about a month.

Les at EQ Marine took on the Rosborough line and is customizing his boat for delivery. I wish him the best -- and we'll all benefit from learning about yet another boat of similar nature!!

Thanks, guys...

You know, I now remember Byrdman's requests and remarks about wanting a larger open cockpit. He mentioned it on the CD-25s, Both tugs and the 29.

I am anxious to see, however, if he is constructing a rooftop lounge chair setup...

I thought he was buying a Rosborough. Seems like Les had one sold.

He is, but for some reason is reluctant to talk about it on this site, despite my encouragement. After all, being a C-Brat is a state of mind, not a state of boat.
