BOATING MAGAZINES JUST DON'T GET IT

Why would I subscribe to a boating magazine when I have this site delivering me a daily dose of opinions, reviews, outstanding technical information, funny stories, adventures, and thousands of photos not to mention an annual party in Seattle?

Thanks every one.

I'm with you, Tom. This is the greatest boating information source and ongoing party around! I only look elsewhere when the info is not right here with the C-Brat Bunch! See ya' in Seattle!

Joe.

I agree that boating magazines are out of date. If you want trawlers--go t Trawlers and Trawlering. Cats, Power cat; general boating: Boat fix, with lots of sub lists. "The Hull Truth" for fishing boats and a number of handy hints on "our" sized boats. I do believe that C Brats is probably the best "value" for time spent. Here you get intellegent answers in very quick fashion. I do not subscribe to any boating magazines--most of the good articles's information is available on one of the list servers or various web sites. I do recieve at least a dozen "Free" magazines, including some of the popular ones--sure I skim the Mega yachts--and know that they are not having anywhere the time we have on the C Dories. I read the retail trade publications, which lists the top dealers and why, plus what trend the boating industry is taking. I don't have much use for the "reviews" in any of the magazines--they are not real world conditions.
If C Dory or Tom Cat gets a write up, you can get they signed up for a bunch of ads. If you read the magazine you may get an intellegent view point by one person. Passagemaker took over "Trawler Fest", and most of us who were giving the presentations there disassociated from Trawler fest. Passagemaker is using mostly their writters--another profit maker for them.

Well, if things go as planned, the January issue of Motor Boating Magazine will have a major feature story about CD25s, featuring Anna Leigh and Daydream on our Alaskan adventure this past June. Story by Capt John Wooldridge and photos by Neil Rabinowitz. John spent three days cruising in SE (Behm Canal, Misty Fjords National Monument, New Eddystone Rock, etc.) and Neil took pix from a helicopter at Allison Harbor, BC. This will be very significant publicity for C-Dory! Here is a shot of Neil photographing the boats!

Sounds like a board should be put up at the SBS in January featuring the article and pictures! Jeff know 'bout this? Timing is everything! :)
