Boat sold

Is there some way that boats who have sold could be marked as such or removed? The good new is that they are selling. The frusterating news is tripping Over the sold boats so often trying to find those that are available. Thanks

The issue is that the admins of the site often do not get notified that a boat has sold and the original poster doesn't put any notice on their ad. If the admins are notified, they can do something about it. If not...

How about admins deleting For Sale posts after a pre-determined time, unless renewed within a grace period, and if you miss that just post again. This is more work for admins, but perhaps it could be automated?

Thank you for your response. One seller brought the subject up to me saying he wanted to do something nuot did not know how. Maybe a short paragraph when boat lists would help. Look forward to finding the perfect one and meeting some of you on the water

There are already instructions to sellers in the boats for sale forum. They read:

"PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING BEFORE POSTING YOUR AD

<stuff clipped>
Once your boat has sold or is no longer available, please reply to your original post and/or drop me or TyBoo a PM so we can remove your listing from the For Sale forum. "

The problem is that people don't read and/or follow what they read and/or do what is asked of them.

The ads are set to automatically delete after 90 days of no activity on a thread. Any reply to a thread, including those trying to be helpful by pointing out that the boat is sold, will reset the count.

It has been a while since I went through the forum and removed the successful ads. I apologize and will do it now.

I moved the ads that had a follow up post by the seller indicating the boat was sold. I also deleted a couple of repeated ads.

The ads that auto delete after 90 days are gone for good, so if you have an ad you need to keep going it is advisable to post a reply to the thread before the time runs out letting everyone know the boat is still available.

The successful ads we catch in time are moved to the Marketplace Reference Forum so others can look over previously sold boats for ideas on pricing for the various model, ages and included equipment. If you have an ad that you want deleted entirely, we will do so if asked.

There are currently 859 listings in the reference forum and 36 still up for grabs in the for sale forum. I moved four ads for sold boats today, so by the numbers we're not doing too bad in our housekeeping but I will try to check it a little more often.

Thanks to the unpaid administrators and owners of the forum: TyBoo and DaNag. If you sell a boat, or just enjoy the site--make a substantial donation to offset their expenses. Pretty cheap "Salesman fee"--and the best salesmen is the c Brat site.

AMEN!

You guys are right, and we're darn fortunate to have two of the best Administrators we could possibly hope for. Gosh, TyBoo Mike and Bill Da Nag have been in that role since I think October 2003. Very few events in my life have been as consistent in the last 15 years. Except maybe hair loss.

Thanks, Bill and Mike. I think the world of you guys.
