Boat name decals

Can anyone recommend a quality boat decal supplier? I just purchased my first C-Dory and she has no name, the previous owner removed the old decals. Thanks in advance!

When we did our boat name, I couldn't find any of the on-line boat name sources (like BoatUS) that had the flexibility to do more than one font and different color outlines in one name. Our local Fast Signs let us do our own design, in the colors and fonts we wanted; we put it on a flash drive, brought it to the store and had our heavy-duty vinyl (with the special textured gold I wanted) boat name ready in a couple hours. Easy, fast, and just what we wanted... and the price was competitive.

If I may jump in here... What size decals do most of you use? I guess the better question is what size lettering do you use?

Measure on the boat where you want the name to go. My preference is to have some "white space" top and bottom. Before making the file for Fast Signs, I printed up my preference on regular paper and "tried that out" on the boat. Knowing that it was just the way I wanted it, I made the file to take to the sign shop.

On our 25, IIRC there was about 8" under the window. I wasn't looking for large as much as a curved graphic/font. It's the same font design that we use on our logo/signature here. The smaller name will not be readable from as far away, so if that is your goal, filling the space available would be better for you. You're the "artist", it's your canvas, fill it in the way that works best for you.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

On my TC, I used 6" for best visibility at a distance. And unlike Capt. Jim, I found lots of fonts on their website and lots of choices. Have used them for all my boats. Quick service and although the first one is a little pricey (depending on size/no of letters), the second one (you do want a name on both sides don't you? ) is usually half price. And right now, it's 10% off!

HERE is the website.

Thanks gentlemen.

I am seriously thinking about going with BoatUS. Like Charlie, I found a lot of fonts, sizes, etc.

Charlie? Two questions... First, if I order the 6" decal is the height of the decal 6" or is 6" the size of the letters themselves?

Second, do you remember what size you used on your CD-22? I can visit my boat on Tuesday to measure how much room I have to work with, but am wondering what size you went with for your CD-22.

Al,l I think I used 5" on the 22. Not as much room to work with as the tomcat.
As for the height of the letters, call them on the telephone and ask them.

Charlie

For boat lettering, numbers etc. (any font style, size and/or color), we suggest and highly recommend ebay, search "boat lettering", have always received great quality, very fast service and reasonable prices.

Sherman signs on K-beach

I just put Sea-Cruz's name on in 6 1/2 inch letters from BoatUS. Photo in my sub-album (untitled) and I am happy with the result. It may be a little large for some tastes on a 22 Angler but I wanted the visibility from a distance.
