Patty had a phone call from El Fiero today, Bill is doing great in his care facility. We plan to stop in Lakewood, CO, to pay a visit on our way going to or coming back from AZ. Like the Energizer Bunny, El keeps "Going and going!"

For "new" C-Brats (everything is of course relative, we are C-Brats #62), Bill and El Fiero and their 22 Cruiser Halcyon are legendary to us old-timers. They cruised virtually every navigable waterway in America. You should read Bill's website, Cruising America - Halcyon Days. It MAY inspire you! It appears to be inspiring Colby Smith whether he knows it or not!

Thanks for the info and photo Pat.

If it were not for Bill and El's writings in "Halcyon Days," I am not certain that we would have bought a C-Dory. They are a wonderful couple.

That’s great to hear. We along with so many others have fantastic memories of time shared with them. To Jo-Lee & I, their life’s example has been & continues to be a shining beacon.

Great to go back and read some of their early writings. They were gifted in so many ways.

I'm very envious of all their travels. Many great stories. Don't think I'll ever get to all the places they went, but I enjoy where I go! Colby

I to am glad to hear Bill and El are doing well. Like many of you reading about their travels and adventures on Halcyon helped my late wife Sue and I with our decision to purchase a C-Dory. I am really glad I was able to meet and cruise with them a few times at Lake Powell.

Thanks for posting this. We have been wondering how El & Bill were doing and hadn't heard any news in a long time. Best regards to them both. We have great memories of cruising with them on Lake Superior and spending time with them at our Thunder Bay friends' island and cabin

Thanks for posting this. I'm glad to hear both are still kicking. I feel fortunate to have been able to meet them in person at at least one CBGT and to have communicated with Bill multiple times via this site. I always enjoyed their posts about the travels they took and I admired their ability to live so simply in their 22 Cruiser for such long stretches of time. I learned a lot from those two!

Like many here, Bill and El inspired me in many ways! I’ve read every word on their website, and have exchanged emails with them. Bill and El, you may not know what people you have inspired!

Many of us started out C-BRATS time with those two and their posts. The way they shrugged off things like one motor kicking the bucket, the minor travails with the truck, the years of carrying the Porta-Potti bottom up ramps to empty, and the grace shown when it was time to move back on land and all that followed. Thanks thanks thanks!!!! Bob in Nevada
