Bait Tank on TomCat

Good morning, folks!

Dive Cat is in San Diego now, home of some pretty serious fishermen. Where do you TomCat 255 owners put your bait tank. I've got that very large, empty spot where the compressor was that would work, I think, but I'd like to hear what the usual configuration is.

Thanks for the input.

Hey Bob, Marc here. If I were in San Diego fishing live bait, I would probably put a tank that would hold some serious bait [40 Gals or more] on the bracket between the motors and use the lazarrette for storage . That fishery has access to big scoops of sardines and if you can carry two , you can throw a few and keep a school of yellowtail, calicos or albacore around the boat for hours .The built in tank on the Tomcat is too small and too square for intensive livebait fishing . Its fine for a couple dozen pinfish or some live shrimp like we use here on the Gulf .

Wow, Marc, that's a lot of weight on the bracket. Well over 300 lbs! Would it be better to have that weight on the inside? Glad I took the 270 lb compressor out!

The built in factory tank is small. But you could probably make a custom tank which would be much bigger and set it in this area. You would not be limited by the "seat hight, and take it further aft (of course you loose any space back there. Lots of possibilities. There is also the transom bag--we used these for years in S. Calif. Mount it on the aft railings for the dive lader over the swim step. I am quite sure that these are still available.
