You need separate powered steering units for each engine and electronic engine controls. I asked about it awhile ago and was told you needed at least 200hp engines for it to work. Maybe they've improved it since then and now you can use smaller motors.

For a CD 22 I would doubt that there are any or at least very few advantages to having the JoyStick system. If you learn to manage your twins, (using counter direction and throttle control) you can spin a 22 in its own length, back and slide to the side, creep forward in a spin, and if you have a tiny bit of breeze or current, you can side slip directly.

Yes it takes practice, but you can do a lot of that for way less in gas than what you will pay for the Stick system.

My suggestion, step out of the big boat magazine and into the reality that the C-Dory 22 is a very capable, and maneuverable boat, and especially with twins on the transom. Of course YMMV.

Hopefully you understand that the OPTIMUS 360 is going to cost about $18,000? Certainly an upgrade--but really not necessary. A potential owner of a Venture 26 was considering the system...But as Harvey noted, this is mostly for larger boats with bigger engines. It is a very complex system.

Required fly by wire control for a joystick (200 hp or more for Honda 150 or more for Suzuki, 175 hp or more for Mercury)
