Another New Boat Design (Got a Million Bucks?)

OK, we've heard about Seaway recently and just now about Great Falls. Even a 25 foot Marinaut.

How about a 42' boat with an 11.6' beam that, when at rest (or under 3 knots) "transforms" into a boat with a nearly 22' beam? The stock version has 370HP Yanmar's and will do 44 knots (40 Cruise). For you speed demons in the crowd, it has an option for Cummins QSBs, 480HP with a top speed of 53 knots (46 Cruise).

It's a WIDER 42, designed by an Italian (of course, De Simoni) and produced by another Italian (Antonelli).

Wonder if they'd take two TomCat's in trade?

Kinda like slideouts on my motorhome.

Only, you aren't going to drive your motorhome, even at 3 knots or less, with the slideouts OUT! 8)

I have often joked about more livability in RVs compared to boats, due to the slideouts... guess I won't have that joke anymore.

Before the C-Dory, we had a boat that had a 20' beam (Corsair trimaran)... that we could "fold" in to 8.5' for trailering. OK, not even close to the same, huh?

Fairly close Jim, but bet it wouldn't go 50 knots! Just a neat idea, nothing close to practical thougyh (says someone that owns two TomCats!)

The Corsair was the right boat at the time, Charlie... and very practical - it saved me a fortune in therapy costs! 8)

You could take those two TomCats, bolt them together, and have an amazing two-cabin/two-bath/two-galley quadramaran! Let the escalation begin.

Now there's an idea. I'm sure Les at EQ could re-do the rigging to allow all four engines to be controlled from one helm.
