Another Brat returns to C-dorydom!

I just bought a 2004 C-Dory 16 Cruiser that EQ Marine had on their lot. It is a one owner boat that was owned by a fellow on the Olympic Peninsula. I was looking for a 22, but I decided that with the majority of my boating being solo, and most within 120 miles from home, the 16 would work out nicely. The ease of towing, launching and retrieving, and great gas milage just makes sense right now.

It's fun to have a boat again to set up the way that I want. It's just a matter of trying to figuring out just what I want to do! Some of my plans are to add a camper back, bow rail, anchor roller, Permatrim and a heater. I am raising the helm seat, and moving the seat forward. I am adding a seat slider that I will mount so that the seat adjusts side to side instead of front to back. This will help me adjust the trim towards the centerline when underway,and provide more cabin room when not underway. I removed the passenger seat to also open the boat up.

I'm really looking forward to getting the camper back and heater installed so that I can go explore in comfort.

I think good standing with Brock would be a 96 speed Italian Chrome moly bike that weighs under 5 pounds. He'd like that! (just kidding Brock)

You didn't really think that you had ever left c-dorydom did you? No matter what, we would never think of you as not being one of us !!

I was beginning to wonder when you'd be making the Announcement.

RE the "seat slide." I happen to be at the place in The Villages, and by golly there is a seat slide here that I took off Katmai when she took me under her wing. (I removed it to create slightly more headspace.) If you want it, it's your's. As far as I know it's complete, and could be installed either fore/aft or athwartship(?).

Making any plans for CBGT's, or are they too far over the horizon yet?

Hi Robbi-As long as you're in the planning stage, put a starboard window electric wiper on your list. On a cruiser you just can't reach the manual wiper handle from the helm seat, and you're going to need a working wiper on a 16 footer in the Sound. If you get a kicker, put ot on the port side and you won't have any balance problem. You're gonna love that little boat, the Miata of Dorydom. Dotty and I look forward to seeing you at Fishermen's Terminal next month.
 
Hooray, Robbi - sounds like a perfect boat for your needs. It is great to think of you out on the water, big grin on your face, and the sound of engine 'music' in your ears.
 
Congrats, Robbi! It wasn't like you ever really left the fold... there are some folks who have boats but due to circumstances go that same time between uses. I noticed that look in your eyes at the SBS gathering.

Just recently, we too had a CD16 cruiser follow us home. Ours is a 1999 we got from Sportcraft in Portland. Like yours, ours is pretty minimalist right now (curtain, pulpit and depth sounder are the only embellishments.) From your album, you seem to be a pretty handy guy, so I hope you will keep us posted as you personalize your little boat. I am not handy, so I will follow all with interest. So far, I've installed a nice dash compass and learned some of the virtues of a Mr. Heater Buddy. Not up to your earlier install but a lot handier than a Wallas.

Rod, Not a problem! In fact, for me to be called a "pretty handy guy" on a boating forum, I take as a compliment!
Congrats on your new to you 16, and yes, I will post pictures of the projects as I go along. I look forward to seeing your boat transform into your perfect cruiser too.

Congrats Robbie. While this is a return to C-Dory boat ownership, you never really left C-Dorydom and you certainly didn't leave C-Bratdom! (or is that the C-Brat-hood?)
