Hello! We are Berry and Barb Ruden from Birch Bay, Washington and just purchased a 1991 C-Dory 16 Angler. It's not our first boat but it's most likely our last! Barb's sister and her husband are C-Brat members (Pat and Patty Anderson) and we purchased the boat from them. We are counting on the two of them to teach us all they can about the C-Dory life. We do love to crab so we will keep the clever name "Crabby Lou". We look forward to posting our many adventures and especially some pics of all the crab we get out here (it's pretty amazing)! Until then, stay safe during this historical pandemic. See you on the water!

Welcome aboard! Pat and Patty are the Master's at C Dory cruising. Plus any relative of theirs has to be a great person!

Enjoy Crabby Lou

Hi, Berry and Barb. Have fun catching crabs and cruising around in Crabby Lou. I'm glad you bought her. She's a fine little craft, and I hope to see you on the water one day. Last boat, eh? Well, I've heard that a time or two. Careful about excessive exposure with our kind, as C-Dory sizing up can be contagious.

Spoken by one who held off the bug for a . . . . while, But, the bug wins eventually ... mostly.

I too am glad you got that little jewel. It needed a love home. Look forward to meeting and seeing those pix.

Congratulations Barry and Barb. You must be very excited for the purchase of your C-Dory. It must be a good feeling to knowing that it came from your own family ties and will stay there for both you and Pat and Patty as they let it go. We look forward to seeing pictures with all the fun it will afford you besides helping to put many tasty Dungeness Crab on the table. Gary.

They hauled her to Clearwater Marine for a new 40 hp Tohatsu 4 stroke main and to find out if the the Johnson 8 kicker would still run. My guess is that it will but that remains to be seen. I am working on re-finishing the hand-holds and top grab-rails. I had started that project before they bought her, ad I intend to finish it

Before Barb and Berry bought Crabby Lou, I had removed the handholds and top grab rails. The varnish was yellowing and peeling off. I finished restoring them just today. First, I sanded down to bare wood. Then I applied two coats of Minwax stain / sealer. This was followed by three coats of Minwax Spar Urethane. I rubbed them as smooth as I could get them with steel wool - 00 Very fine after the first two coats, and 0000 Final after the third coat. I am pleased with the results!

Pat, those look good. And I be they feel great too. Are those the actually mounting screws? I guess I thought they would be beefier.

Nice work.

Yes, those are the actual mounting screws, the same ones that came off when I removed the handholds.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! We can't wait to get this boat in the water. Now...since we want to be able to sleep on it once in a while, what air mattress do you all recommend??
