Aft throttle control

For those running twins, who has throttle control at the main helm and a second set of throttle control? Either remote or at a aft station with a second hydraulic wheel?

Looking at a 23 venture and was thinking twin 60 suzuki's. Wanting a aft helm in the cockpit with shift/throttle control. Dealership saying it can't be done, that I'd have to go single large screw and kicker.

Relative of mine with twin 50 tohatsu's, has rear steerage, independent tilt control with minor modification and is adding rear throttle control with shift solenoids and rheostats. I don't want to have to modify new equipment for warranty reasons.

Any suggestions? Ok with different brand engines.

My 2006 23 Venture had twin Yamahas (originally 50's, then 70's). The second steering station was one of my favorite features of the boat. I single-handed a lot. I had more than one docking experience in very hairy conditions where the thought of trying to manage things while running back and forth between the cabin and the cockpit, or while hanging out the window, still gives me the heebie jeebies.

At my request, the factory included a cockpit helm when the boat was being built. No problems. Worked perfectly. I had Teleflex SeaStar Hydraulic Steering and Teleflex/Morse KE-4 Engine Controls that co-ordinated the two helms.

Not cheap - although I got it basically at the builder's cost because they were eager to build a boat with that set-up and had not done so yet. That was almost 20 years ago, and I don't know if the technology has regressed or disappeared altogether. Seems unlikely. If one dealer say's it can't be done, I would definitely get a second opinion. OTOH, I'll bet there are some really expensive joy-stick and remote control fly-by wire versions available now, but you might be looking at doubling the price of the boat with some of those.

Good Luck!
