We really miss being part of the Brats community, particularly to obtain advice. In desperation, I am checking with the Brats to help trouble shoot our problem:
We sold our C-Dory and bought a 24 ft Skagit Orca, which we like. We have a problem with the sliding glass door, made per Diamond Sea Glaze in BC. The plastic screw cover track at the base of the door fell apart, and we can't get a replacement part from Diamond Sea Glaze. Their Customer Service Dept never returns calls and the catalog doesn't show give measurements for the track covers they carry.
We have extreme problems getting the door to slide open and shut, which definitely affects our boating experience!
We tried contacting NMI boats, but they don't have records from building the Skagit Orca, lost in the fire at the plant. No one has a clue what part to order.
Would you recommend just tearing out the door and replacing it with a regular door like the Dory or Sea Sport? This will cost a lot of money. Any other suggestions to rig something up to allow the door to slide?
This is an inexpensive part, we just can't get an order number or someone at Diamond Sea Glaze/Advantec Store to help.
We would be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks,
Tara
