Advice (again) Would like to sell TR-1 Gold Auto pilot

Hi Everyone,

My 22-cruiser came with a TR-1 Gold auto pilot on it (I believe this unit has been co-opted by Garmin) I've given it plenty of thought and decided I will never use it as it's intended. according to paperwork and Greg ( the nice fella I bought the boat from here) the unit was approx. $4K new when installed in 2003. It needs an on/off switch replaced (approx. $200 from Garmin/TR-1) Would anyone like to weigh in on an asking price since A: I have zero idea what it's worth and B: I would like to give someone here a good deal on it (only makes since) If you're interested in it and would rather PM me, that's fine too.

Most likely I will need help removing it completely from the boat, which is near Seattle (Sensei's Farm) for a couple/three more weeks before I haul it back to Minnesota (or moor it up in Port Townsend....or...) Anyway, you get the idea. :)

Thanks,
Brenton

I for one would love to take if off your hands and could do the uninstall my self. I live 20 mins away from
Rogers. I think you should be able to get 2k for it easy and maybe as much as 3k. they just dont come up for sell used very often. I just dont have enough to make you a good offer. Good luck

The Garmin TR1 Gold lists for 2499.99 on there site. I would guess that you could get 50 to 60 percent of that value when you consider no warranty, wire leads and pluming shortened for the install. New owner will probably have to buy some replacement items to make it work.

That's the bare unit. I think West Marine gives a fair idea of the current price and the extras.

What you can get depends on the scope you are offering. 50 - 60% would be too high for me to swallow but that's only my tight fisted approach coming out.

The basic unit is about $2500, and then you need to add the throttle connection kit and possibly the mount kit for the hydraulic ram.

So, depending on if the buyer has the same model kicker as the seller everything should fit. If not, the new owner may need a new throttle control module.

And it must be the exact same model, or family of engines. For example, the control module for the High Thrust Yamaha 8 horse will not work on the newer High Thrust 9.9, even though they are the same basic engine- they have very differnet carburators.

I cant make a offer that would not insult so I won't try. to bad to because its a great auto pilot for fishing. What motor do you have it on?

Its on a 2003 Honda 9.9. Tom, you might be surprised how easy I am to work with ;) payments? Shoot, its not like I don't know where to find you :) if no takers, maybe someone can show me how it works at some point! Then I might find a use for it.
