Adhesive Question and Hole filling Question

Hello C-brats.

1. On the 2012 C-dory I just purchased, the previous owner used Gorilla Glue to attach quite a few wooden items around the boat that I would like to remove. Does anyone have experience and/or recommendations with removing gorilla glue. I read somewhere that it may have to be chiseled off and I am really hoping this is not the case.......

2. The boat has eye hooks that were placed into the roof of the boat that I would like to remove. Any suggestions for a piece of hardware that would effectively fill the hole so that they don't get in the way. I was thinking of possibly inserting a round headed screw or bolt with a large washer and some 4200.

Alternatively, is there an epoxy or something similar that is white in color that I could use to fill the holes? Not sure if I want/need to gel coat when I am done to make it perfectly match the surrounding surface, but would consider it if it is not too difficult.

thanks-

Ben

If you just want a sealant the is strong, try 3M 4000. It stays white. Everything else I've tried turns brown over time.

With the glue, try grinding with a Dremel or equivalent.

Never used Gorilla Glue on the inside of the boat--so no idea how it adheres to fiberglass. What I would do to start is use a very sharp chisel to bring the wood down to less than 1/8". Then you may be able to grind the wood/ glue carefully to the interior gel coat. Not going to be perfect--but then paint to match.

MarineTex is a white epoxy filler. I avoid it on the outside, because it may yellow, and may have to be ground out if you want to do a proper fiberglass repair on the outside with gelcoat.

I would fill those holes in the top, with the MarineTex. Do they go thru the top? If so, then I would try and patch with polyester resin, with mill fibers,/ cabosil, and then gelcoat over the outside.
