A screen door? Where do I get one of those?

At a recent gathering Kathleen and I had the pleasure of seeing Traveler and some of the mods added to her. One very nice add was a canvas matching snap on zipper boot around the cabin door with a screen that could be rolled up to one side when not in use.
I have also seen, not sure if it was on the same c-dory, a screen snap on panel for the front center window. This is a nice option as you can leave this window open in variable weather and if it rains you do not get water inside.
Third, we have an all around canvas with large windows on all sides which we use for winter and rain. The pain with the standard canvas involves the need to snap yourself in and out every time and we have no screen for the rear area either. So, I am thinking of having the existing side panels modified with an additional zipper from the top at the cabin roof down and back. This would allow us to close things up upon entering or exiting with ease. Then with zippers all around, I might be interested in a screen insert for both sides.

SO, MY QUESTIONS: How should I expect to spend? Are any of these things stock from C- dory's supplyer? Am I better off working with a more local company (Olympia v/s Seattle)?

We had screens made when we had the canvas done. They are invaluable in warm or buggy weather. Your local canvas guy should ba able to make some, they're very simple. We also have one for the hatch in the berth. Pics of our camper canvas are in our "projects" album. We have lots of screens!

I don't see why King Canvas could make screens for you. They are in Seattle and supply the canvas for the factory. I went to their website and they had pricing for the solid window covers in the matching material(s), so it's obvious they have the patterns.

We have the King Canvas camperback with the eisenglass windows that zip and roll up with screens behind. It really is nice when it's warm. At the time we bought our boat (almost 3 years ago) it was an additional $500 for the screens (that's on a 25). Seemed like it was overpriced at the time, but they have definitely been worth it. Joan made a screen for our cabin door with fabric screen material from Home Depot and Sunbrella for the edging. I put snaps on it that are in the same place as our regular Sunbrella door cover. Works great.

Best wishes,
Jim B.
