How tall is a 25 on a trailer - will it fit in a 12' high door ?

How long is a 25 on a trailer - will it fit in a 36' buillding ?

When you tow, is the motor up or down ? I've seen the support legs that go down to the trailer, but it seems to me that the differential movement between the boat and the trailer wouldn't be a good thing.

Dave, not sure about the 25 but my TC255 fits in my tall door garage, no problem. Of course, I don't have the radar/tower on there (yet). The 22 fit in there just fine, even with the radome/tower on the top.

As for your other question, "It's on the trailer until you put it in the water!!! :roll: "

I tow with the engines down but I'd hate for it to slide off like Grumpy's RF246, that would for sure do the engines in.... :unlove So far, I haven't towed it very far and don't plan to in the near future..

Guess I left that door open - kinda like "how long is a piece of string?"....

I didn't like towing the Whaler with the motor down, it sat so low that If I had a flat on the trailer the motor would have been dragging. But the motor seemed to bounce less in the down position - maybe cause I could see it better when it was up.
 
I cannot answer the height question, because it depends on what radar/radar arch/lights etc--you have on the boat, plus what type of trailer. (the Torsion axles will ride a little lower. The C Dory 25 just barely fits between the fenders of the trailer. The Tom Cats are over the fenders, because they have less flare You can certainly rig a C Dory 25, so it will fit in a 12 foot high door--but not all 12 foot doors have a full 12 foot clearance--depending on how the door is rigged, when fully up.

I have the motor on my 25 up partly--but I am concerned about length. Again, it depends on motor up/down, tongue length--but my C Dory 25 is about 34 feet on the trailer, with motor down. I figure another foot for the hitch, and I am 65 feet LOA when towing with a 30 foot RV.

I have used the lower unit supports--there is not problem with differential movement between the trailer and boat. The boat should be solidly strapped down and not "bounce".
 
I am away from home for the week-end. Unfortunately not on my 25. I think my 25 with the tall arch is 12' 6" on the trailer. If you don't get a difinitive answer by Monday I will measure. Also consider that the height on a trailer will differ with the type of trailer. Mine is a King roller trailer. I think the bunk trailer sits lower to the ground by several inches.
 
Ken, that is just sick and twisted... I admire that quality in a person. :wink:

Our CD-25 with the tall arch, radar dome, and extended anchor light will not fit under a 12' door. We stored it in a building with a 14' door and it went through there with no problem. I would estimate our height at about 12'8" on the trailer. King Saltwater Series trailer with bunks.

As noted, there are different size arches... with the short arch or no arch at all, it shouldn't be a problem. Drive slow on the way in with someone standing on the boat... just in case. :mrgreen:

My 25 fits in the garage which has a 10 high by 12 wide door. For motor support do a search on google for my-wedge. I've used them for years. Excellant for motor support. Yamaha is now marketing their own and recommends it for their outboards.

It's gonna be interesting once I get the new 25 home. My RV parking is 11' wide (no problem) but only 33' long, which could be an issue. I guess the hitch may be sticking out over the sidewalk a bit. :x
 
Let's see, Journey On is a C-25 sitting on a E-Z Loader trailer. It also has the high radar arch with a radar mounted on top. Now the height has always been of interest, since one has to pull through the gas stations. Those in my neck of the woods have 11' 6" clearance. Haven't hit one yet and have comfortable clearance. I take the anchor light off, and lay the VHF antenna and anemometer down when we trailer.

Also, I just measured the overall length of the rig to see how much it would cost us to trailer it to Vancouver Isl this summer. The tongue is 9' long and I hope yours is shorter, it can't be longer. I measured, motor down, ~32' from the hitch to the back of the motor. I'm trying to think of ways to make it shorter, but that's about it.

By the way, I don't think it's good for a boat (or truck, for that matter,) to be stored on a building, they'll get spoiled.

Anyone have an experience or opinions of a folding/swinging tounge? I see it as an option on King Trailers. Is it possible to add that AFTER you purchase the trailer?
 
I have a tall arch with a Furuno Radar atop and it measures right at 12 feet on my Easy Loader.
