Sad to say that today, one of our C-Brat friends is gone...
Lou Schiavo passed away this morning. He was an avid boater, a retired USN Navy Commander, and an active member of the USCG Auxiliary.
I will dearly miss his companionship afloat on Skimmer and ashore at cruise destinations.

Very sad to hear this news. Mary and I have very fond memories of exploring your historic cruising grounds with Lou & his wife. Please pass along our sincere condolences to his wife. Thanks for posting this news Steve.

Rob & Mary

Tangier Island, Cape Charles, Hampton Roads, The Chickahominy, Dismal Swamp, Coinjock, Beaufort, Southport, Hontoon Island, Key Largo, Bahia Honda, Boca Chica, Key West and points between. Always hot coffee and Sibley's.
Lou called it, "Dithering Through Paradise"

BobMcG,
Thanks for posting about the Lou and Bob's great adventures...
What did the coffee taste like that you and Lou made in the bathroom of the visitors center on the Dismal Swamp Canal?

Steve,

I cannot believe that you remembered the coffee at the Dismal Swamp. Lou NEVER tied up where there was no electric (no anchoring out!). But at the Dismal Swamp rest area - no electric. So, early in the morning, I brought our normal coffee maker into the men's room and plugged it in. Sat and waited while car and boat tourists used the facilities and then schlepped it back to the Skimmer. Nooo Problem!

Mr. Baum, Mr. McGinness,

Thanks so much to you and others for this thoughtful tribute. Dad loved to be on the water, this community, and especially your friendships.

I am happy to report that I am going to take over the helm from Dad. Skimmer is on her way to Big River and a new homeport of Red Wing, MN. Of course there are no Skimmers up here, but I care not. There will be Nationals games on the radio and Dogfish Heads chilling in the galley, so her name will stay the same.

Now on to figuring out how to maintain a boat...

Dante, There is a good chance I will be in the Minneapolis are before Labor Day. If the is anything I can do to help pleas let me know. Glad to see you are continuing the "Skimmers" traditions. Stick around on the C-BRATS site and there is lots of help here.
