This is awesome and I never knew anything about this...something new on 9-11

Greater than the boat lift of Dunkurk in WWII,  500,000 people in 9 hours, by boat.

This is something amazing; I had not been aware of this wonderful effort!

Narrated by Tom Hanks.

YUP it is awesome, still. It has been here before but it is always good. Funny how it happened and nobody said anything. Glad the word is getting out. Hats off to the captains that were there to help.

Thanks for sharing this. Mariners are some pretty special people. Dunkirk was a bit different, with a lot of perils in the channel, plus the German Army at the beach head. " By the ninth day, a total of 338,226 soldiers (198,229 British and 139,997 French)[5] had been rescued by the hastily assembled fleet of 850 boats." The smallest of these was 18 feet. For those of us who have sailed the English channel, it can be a very difficult body of water!

I had not realized that so many had been evacuated from Manhattan in that short a time!
