22’ cruiser with an inboard motor?

Catch 22

A friend of mine is interested in buying a 22’ cruiser he has become aware of. He has not seen the boat yet but the potential seller claims its an inboard motor. It’s an early 90’s boat. Should have more information soon. In the mean time, is anyone aware of any inboard 22’ cruisers beeing built? Seems odd to me...

Hi Kevin, Good to see you on the site again. WOW, a 22 with an inboard. Don't know, but I doubt it is a real C-Dory. SeaSport has some I/O's, and there are a few wooden, homebuilts I have seen, but never in 10+ years have I run across an inboard C-Dory. Might want to verify an HIN. You know the drill.

Some of the 26 and 27 C Dorys had I/O diesel, and a few gas. The Venture 29 was a diesel inboard. A 22 would be hard to do---but with enough money anything is doable.

The early 90's 22' Sea Sports were inboards and had a C-dory like profile...From a distance I often mistake the old 22' Sea Sports for either a 22 cruiser or 23' venture, because you can't see the deep-v hull when they are in the water. And now that C-Dory is made by Sea Sport, maybe that's the source of confusion for the seller.

I saw one in Sterling AK. 22' center console With a V8 inboard jet
one old 27' in Homer with Diesel Volvo Inboard outboard.

Saw a 22' set up as a bow picker also with I/O.

If you had enough $$$ I think the original C-Dory people would build you whatever you could afford

I would tend to agree with you. I have seen lots of larger C-Dory working boats in Alaska with inboards. With that said, I have never seen a 22 or smaller with an inboard. There are lots of 22 SS boats with 262, 305 and 350 inboards.....they were built for one. I'd love to know what motor that C-Dory 22 with the inboard has in it....that is if it even is a CD 22...

I think i saw one of the c-dory boats back in the 80's with a Volvo I/O I think it was bigger then a 22 though ?That was at their factory in Kent WA.

The 22 center console W/Jet had a small Block Chevy of some sort

Not a 22, but this is my ideal C-Dory. It' s Aiviq. I am not in the market for a new boat, but if I were, I would be seriously chasing this boat!

Agree that is a fantastic boat. And so rare. But a SS 27 pilot is readily available and pretty dang awesome too. I suspect, like you, I can afford lots of boats, but don't want something huge to trailer, and don't want a huge fuel bill at the dock. The CD 22 is awesome.
