Work continues on the 1989 22 Cruiser restoration. I really wanted an opening window to the rear with a screen. Down south we have heat and bugs.
The Ac takes up the right window and the passenger sits in front of the left one so the window in the door was the only option. Obtained quotes from marine window makers in the $600 range. Over budget.
I found a replacement vertical aluminum slider with a screen that was only slightly larger than the OEM window at a Mobile home parts warehouse. Since this window was intended for use in a door it has tempered safety glass. Cost $64. Now installed and I am pleased. I am going to have it and some of the other windows tinted with UV reduction film. Posted a couple of photos in the album today
Did a test run today on the AC and the Honda EU 1000 using the "Red Cap" remote fuel system for extended running of the generator and it ran all day with no problems. The boat was outside on the trailer in the sun and it was close to 100 and the cabin stayed cool all day. The EU 1000 powers the AC on high and the Engel cooler with no problems on eco-throttle. The little genset has its limits, If we want to use the shower or the microwave we must turn off the AC.
The Engel cooler is amazing. Will freeze a gallon milk jug solid overnight in the Texas heat running off of a single 12 v battery, and can still start the boat on the same battery in the AM.
Installed the connectors and steering link to the kicker, and the new curtains will be ready in 2 days. Ran the condensate drain from the AC to the drain line under the sink. It ran all day and while I was working on other things I ran the drain into a bucket. The little AC took close to 2 gallons of water out of the air in the 22 cabin. Wow.
