2012 Delta/Bay Extravaganza and Catalina Offshore Adventure

The Spaghetti sauce and meat is getting closer to S. Calif--well traveled! It is in the freezer of the RV, and we had to make a special place in one of the travel bays for the pot to cook it all in. Not sure where that 4.5 gallon pot will go on the C Dory 22--maybe in the dinghy!

We are sitting in LazyDay's RV center in Tucson--the windshield wipers went out the first day--Capt. Charlie told us we should have never left on Friday the 13th!

There is a work commitment and another schedule that will impact that week now. I'm trying to go at least for the 1st or last half, right now the 1st half looks most promising, but would have to leave Wednesday PM at the latest (missing the potential fish fry). I'll keep you posted.

No we will not make it again this year... We have the boat in the front yard of our cabin and there is sits...have not used it at all since the Delta.

Want the good or the bad first? Let's go with the good :smiled I am recovering from a Laminectomy on the Lumbar 4/5. This is the cause of my HIP pain for the last several years. Some of you will recall my walking problems on the Delta Cruise. Numerous steroid shots did little to ease the pain and I'm now pain free, well as pain free as a 74 year old can be.

The bad :thdown is that the MARCIA JANE will not be joining you at Catalina. When I told the doctor of my plans, he said (well, I better not tell you what he said). Lifting outboard motors, rafts and such, as well as hiking, diving, kayaking were definitely no-nos for a good while. We were so looking forward to this year's trip! Do you realize that I will not be able to display my flip the raft skills for the entire dock community?

Have a blast over there. Marcia and I will be thinking of you.

Dear All.

With all the fallout, it looks like we are down to the following six vessels for sure:

1. Pounder (2)
2. C-Pup (1)
3. Blue Eagle (2)
4. Dinner Belle II (2)
5. Thataway (5)
6. Discovery (2).

This group now comprises 14 folks for our potluck dinner Monday night. We are getting our boat ready this weekend as the following Sunday we will be off to MDR!

We are looking forward to a relaxing time at Two Harbors and seeing everyone.

Jim and Kath

I thought I posted that I'll bring the garlic bread but I don't see that post, so, unless otherwise instructed... I'll bring garlic bread. If we need to buy provisions on Sunday for the group dinner on Monday, I'll gladly chip in my share of costs. I'll also join you guys for dinner in MdR on Sunday night. Not yet decided whether I'll launch Sunday and tie up at the guest dock, or launch Monday morning. Either way, I'll to join you in going to Catalina.

BTW, there is a pops music concert in MdR by the guest dock on Saturday night. It's nice to listen to, but after the concert they disassemble the stage and for hours, drop pipes onto concrete causing an ear shattering clammor as each pipe hits the pavement. If you plan to tie up at the guest dock, you might want to be as far away from the stage as possible, meaning close to the boat ramp side or the opposite end by the floating green tent (fish pen)... or have ear plugs to sleep through the clanging!

My cell phone is 213-700-0080. Someone call me Sunday to say where to meet you for dinner. Kimiko wants to join us for Dinner and will greet you'all Sunday night. If my cell phone goes to VM, the battery may be dead or I may have misplaced it. Please make a second call to my house at 323-291-7618.

God bless and have a safe trip to L.A. Remember to check that you put the drain plug in before launching, and don't hit your head on the outboard when checking!

Safe traveling,

Jim,

It's been touch and go if we were going to make it or not, but all looks like a go now. We can bring the pre dinner snacks. See you at MDR on Sunday. Hope to arrive in the early afternoon and find a slip at Chase Park. Looking forward to seeing all of you again.

Brent and Dixie

Brent and Dixie.

Thanks for checking in. It will be good to see you both. I am looking forward to maybe doing some fishing with you. I will also look for your new truck in the MDR parking lot!

Jim and Kath

Hi Keith.

Thanks for the offer. There is no need for your wife to do a salad as Robbin Eudy is bringing two salads. You can stay with your original assignment.

Jim

Thisaway is in the water at Sunset Aquetic park--took the afternoon to get the 'stuff' aboard. Now to let the back rest!

I cannot say enough good about the staff at Sunset Aquetic Marina. They made arrangements for use to store the trailer, get a slip right in front of the sheriff's office and gave us a permit for the car for the entire week.

A liittle sticker shock. I filled up the port tank at $4.00 a gallon, and figured I would fill the other tank at the fuel dock--well I did. It had ethanol in it, and cost was cost $ 5 dollars a gallon! In Florida the Marina gas does not have ethanol.

Good traveling to the other C brats, and we will see you on Monday at the Isthums--give use a shout on the radio!

Hi Bob

What time Monday morning are you going over to the Island?

We will be on Channel 69 VHF.

You might give me your cell telephone number if we want to call you on the way over.

Jim
