2012 Delta/Bay Extravaganza and Catalina Offshore Adventure

Dear All:

Everything is all set for our Extravaganza. This event is a little over one week away. Eleven (11) vessels are signed up and have paid marina fees. This is our biggest turn out ever! How appropriate for our 10th year anniversary of this trip.

Kath and I were sailing in the Bay yesterday (Sunday). The weather was so so bad one could not get out the Gate as the rollers were pounding into the channel. Was still fun yesterday heavy weather sailing as it was "opening day" on the Bay and hundreds of sail boats were sailng along with us.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday, May 9th. Please call me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Jim

Not sure what our plans are but if we are around, we'd like to come visit with you all at South Beach. What days are you actually at that marina? I know you are also doing other cruises. Could two "wanna bes" join you for something?

I'm here at delta marina & will launch in a couple of days. My question is do I need to take a dinghy along on the cbrats trip? It sounds as if we will not anchor out so I would not need one. One less thing to deal with. What is your opinion?

Jon.

Good question. Because we now have all marina reservations secured, there is no need to take a tender for the Delta/Bay trip. Please save your tender for the Catalina Offshore Adventure.

Sincerely,

Jim

Mary and Rob.

We will be at San Francisco South Beach Marina, Saturday late afternoon, May 12th. We will be there Saturday overnight. You are welcome to come on down to the dock if you want and check out what these C-Dory cruises are all about.

Sincerely,

Jim

Great! We're going to make a point to meet you all... Several of you have helped us with many questions in the past few months, so it will be great to thank you in person. We WISH we had our boat so we could join you, but maybe next year!
Mary and Rob

I don't know about you veterans of this extravaganza but we are pretty darn exited! :D Sea Queen is getting a little extra attention; she is on her trailer, oil change, topping off batteries, securing items, making lists and checkin 'em twice. I'm having a hard time focusing on that four letter word (w..k). As usual all heck is breaking loose right before I try taking some time off, Murphys Law I suppose. As promised the beer I brewed is where I want it.

How many of you cruisers will drink a beer? I don't want all that extra weight on board ya know. :cry

John-

Bring it. We can all sample your brew.

I am pulling my boat out of storage tomorrow. I have not looked at it for 7 months! Hope it runs ok!

Looking forward to next week's trip even after ten times.

Sincerely,

Jim

Marie and I are "fresh" off Lake Powell, and will start the trip to Delta Marina tomorrow. We had a great time with Brent and Dixie (who wish they could come), and also met up with Steve and Karen on SeaScape.

We will probably launch a day early--ready for some of the cool bay weather!

We should be arriving late Monday too....
I am in the mountains with the boat and Sue is coming from Southern Calif.

Great going Bob, you made a quick run from Powell. Say hey to my friend Jon on Gypsy River. Enjoy the Delta See you guys soon in the San Juan's. George

Dear All;

Got our boat out of storage, batteries charged, fuel tanks filled, engine running and tested, and air put into the trailer tires. We are all set for Wednesday.

We will be arriving Rio Vista about 10:30 AM on Wednesday morning. By the time we launch, park the trailer, and get all set up, we should be ready to leave the dock around Noon. We will all have a dock chalk talk before we leave Rio Vista regarding Duck Club logistics.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Jim and Kath

PS- My fishing guide says that he will likely want to give it a try out the Gate on Saturday morning as he thinks the weather may be good and the King Salmon could be within striking range!

Still the greatest cruise on Earth. Thanks to Jim & John. The Duck club was better than ever! Now in Petaluma. Great weather this year.

The cruise is over and what a great time. Thanks to Jim and Kath on Pounder for the organization and John and Robin for the Wheeler Island Duck Club "experience"--there is nothing in C Dory Kingdom which beats this!

It was a great cruise and fun to Meet Jon of Gypsy River (Sante Fe), Eric and Heather on Chack Chack (Eagle). Steve and Company on Dora Jean were great in organization. Kent and Marcia were delightful-and such a pleasure to finally meet. David and Don--those intrepid soles who run up and down the West Coast on the Venture 26! John and Laurie on Sea Queen were just beginning their C Dory experience--but with a lot of boating background. Joel and Susan and Roger and PJ are always so much fun--and all of us "Dog" People had a blast!

Thisaway is sitting in a C Dory friendly (and great showers) Park Yreka RV park at 776 exit off I 5. The owner thought that the C dory was the greatest "RV" he had ever seen. (We had been here before in our real RV's...

Today started at 5 AM (Alarm)--but going to bed early didn't really work well, since there was a 15 minute fireworks display at 10 PM just East of the Marina. (Angel didn't stop shaking for another 15 minutes). We left the marina at 6 AM--and everyone was off within 15 minutes. We all arrived at Rio Vista Delta Marina at 9 AM--3 hours to do 53 miles. Even with the early hour, there was some significant chop. (Rodger lead the pack with his high performance Honda 90--which seems to have finally broken in! )

The total trip was 154 miles on our GPS, and we could have made it easily without refueling. Engine hours were 11, so we averaged about 15 mph!

We took 2 hours at the Delta Marina to wash the boat, de-
rig the sea mode and go to trailering camper mode. We then drove 320 miles. A long Day~!

We apologize for missing "Breakfast with the gang"--but had to hit the road. A wonderful 5 days with great people! Hopefully we will be back next year! This is a "not to be missed" cruise.
