2008

Had a very restful night, can't think of a better place to wake up on January 1st than swinging on the hook in Andrews Bay! There are four other boats here. Baxter duty at 6:00 a.m., dinghied to shore in the dark with the big Joe's LED flashlight showing the way, then back in the sack! We just woke up, coffee water is going, the Mr. Heater Buddy is supplementing the Wallas in the cabin, the year is off to a good start. Happy New Year to all from the crew of Daydream!

We want to wish all on the site a happy,
safe and healthy new year.
Too cold up here to do anything but dream
and plan. The site helps us through the winter.

Did you forget to mention the Baxter Buddy supplemental heater?

Happy New Year, little nephew. Scritch Baxter for me and give the boss a hug too.

VERY quiet here. Amazingly, no neighborhood parties, no horn blowing and, really, no noise at all unless I consider Joey's snoring.

Have a great New Year all

Don in 70 degree Paradise. where rain is rare and snow is just a concept.

Here's wishing all the C-Brats a Very Happy New Year. May you have Peace, Health, Safety, and More and Better Boating Time. I hope we get to cross wakes with many of you, and thanks to all the rest for sharing here. Thanks also for making this site possible.

Happy New Year

Don.... I think I am more than knee deep in that concept....and we are getting out of here tomorrow....before more of yer concept arrives and we can't move... That darn concept has kept us cabin bound for several days...and a short visit is enough to prove my concept that I don't like the stuff....

and the whole story on Wild Blue's cruising thread.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, joyous 2008, with LOTS of time onboard.

Best wishes,

Happy new year to all the C-Brats. I woke up a little late this AM - too many glasses of wine last night and stayed up past midnight for the first new years eve in many. Then cleaned up after the guests from our party. Last night was awesome - about 40-50 people over throughout the evening. Made way too much food but the cioppino was excellent and my Peking ducks also turned out perfect. Just got done taking down most of the Christmas decorations and doing up the remaining dishes. Now it's time for a little relaxation and reflection.

2007 was a pretty good year overall. It started a bit rocky with my son but he seemed to get straightened out and went off to college in the fall. Joyce and I took a long trip to Italy and reconnected. Work is going well - I had a new job offer this summer but the UW did a lot to retain me, the publication rate was high and I manage to keep the lab funded in an increasingly competitive and tough grant funding environment, so that's all good.

We made it to a couple of C-Brat gatherings and met up with a few Brat's here and there. Here's the stuff I can remember...
*Made it to the boat show and factory dinner and met up with several brats though that.
* Was pleased to host a few brats for a tour of my lab at UW during the boat show week.
*Made it to Lopez for the spring outing.
*Was able to meet up with Tyboo Mike and the girls with fresh donuts when they were on their summer trip.
* Had a nice lunch with Oldgrowth Dave, Larry Q and Larry's wife when they were on their way to the Bellingham gathering.
*Had the pleasure of meeting Jim and Joan on Blue and sharing a breakfast with them.
*Did my annual Neah Bay trip and had the pleasure of putting Pat of Daydream and Larry Q on a few fish and sharing their fine company.
* Fished a few times with other brats - Cutty Sark, Larry Q etc.
* Met up with the crowd for the locks cruise and we were all embarrassed by our relative lack of holiday spirit when compared to the highly decorated Susan E.

I probably forgot a few Brat related events/happenings that occurred last year with me but overall each and every one was enjoyable and I keep meeting the best people through this site.

So here's to an even better 2008 and I hope to meet and see more of you all in the coming year!

2008's here and we are looking forward to meeting more C-Brats, enjoying more boating hours, covering more water, crossing more wakes, and sharing C-Dory adventures. I'll be learning new things to do on the boat, will be trying new recipes, and seeing more areas new to us. Looking forward to improving our skills and spending more nights on the boat this year.

Want to wish you all a safe new year. Wear your PFD's, file your float plan, have a great time and come back safe and sound.
