I will purchase a cold refreshing brew of choice  to the 1st person who can post complete INTERIOR photos of the Venture 23. It is hard to fathom that all the pictures floating around are only exterior shots!

I checked out the Venture 23 on Saturday. My wife really liked it. It is significantly bigger inside as well as the cockpit than the 22 Cruiser. More elbow room at the dinette. I'm going back to the Portland Boatshow this afternoon. I'll bring the camera and see what I can come up with. C.W.

Well, I went there last night and still really like the Venture 23. It is very much a C-Dory and a great boat with many features that appeal to me and my wife. We have a family of 5 but the two teen boys are less and less into boating. We also have a large lab (mellow) and I fish a lot. Our daughter is 7 and will be boating with us for a while. My wife wants to cruise the San Juans and B.C. more and with a galley and dinette and is not hung up on having a stand up head. I am also considering used Tomcat 24s as well as a 24 ft. Skagit Orca, 22-24 ft. Sea Sport and darn if Osprey doesn't also have a nice package. Please look at the many interior pics, look at the price and what it is equipped with and let me know what you think. The exterior? Looks very much like something between a CD 22 and CD 25. C.W.

Ooohh, I like! :thup I'm curious how the Venture 26 will turn out. Thanks for taking the pics CW and also for putting a face to your name.

As far as fishing RJD Wannabe, our 22 works out just fine for fishing. It would work better without the cooler in the way but that's easy enough to slide around.

Hey, that's not my face in these pics. I'm in my album holding the tuna and the 34 lb. salmon by my (temporarily) aluminum boat. Glad you like the pics. C.W.

I would say that this is very much a TOLAND designed boat(Ben Toland), now built by C-Dory.

Having test driven a 23 when it was built by Cape Cruiser my opinion is that the 90 hp is adequate but a 115 hp would be much better.

Thanks for putting up the photos. There appears to be a headliner in the foreward cabin. Insullation there would be nice? Otherwise, I don't see much advantage over the CD 23--and the price of $65,000--without taxes or electroncis (figure closer to 70K) make the 25 sound like still a good boat with a base price about the same as the full price of the 23).

Seems like the 23 is "competing" with the 22...so where is the advantage (not having seen one)?

CD 25 has gone up too.C.W.:

255 Tomcat, twin Honda 150s: $116,499
25 Cruiser, twin Honda 90s: $89,995
23 Venture, Honda 90 : $64,995
22 Cruiser, twin Honda 40s: $53,645
24 Skagit Orca, 225 Honda $97,000
22 Sea Sport 250 Yamaha: $77,000

Peter,

My procedure is now this for the cooler. For the person fighting the fish, when fish gets near boat, person jumps on top of cooler (its sturdy right?). This gives full movement for the person with the net. That way you can get an early visual id on the fish too! I had to find a solution to the shoulder-2-shoulder style of landing the fish, with the DR in the way too.

Don't forget there are ways to get that cooler up in the engine well to free up the cockpit floor.

This makes a huge difference in the space available for your feet and their movement.

Here's a photo from DoOnDory Dan's album: You can also see photos in 3rd Byte's album.

Many thanks CW-----I owe you a cold one! Did the insulation/padding cover the entire interior? Where was the hot water heater and water tank located? Many thanks on behalf of all us curious Brats for your extra effort! :D :D :D

Thanks for the photos, CW!

Looks like an upscale version of the 22.

Nice looking galley and generally dressy interior.

Too bad there wasn't enough room for an enclosed head. That one item alone would double the number of boats sold!

I am posting from the inside cabin of the Venture 23 in the Atlanta show right now . I took a bunch of detail photos earlier and will post tonight in the Cruse ship #4 gallery when I have high speed access . I am impressed with the fit and finish , the layout , storage and quality .The headliner looks great and the hidden lighting is a very nice touch . I am not only a dealer, I own a C Dory and would be proud to own one of these ! Hopefully we will see some Brats here and meet and make some new ones as well . The show runs through Sun and is at the World Congress Center downtown .

I dunno, I was expecting more but maybe I shouldn't have. I'll be hitting the boat show soon so maybe I'll change my tune when I see it in person. I'm not sure it's worth a 10k premium over the 22' cruiser. Also, since I use mine for fishing (including Tuna with all the ice) I would not want the 23' with a 90hp motor. If I was just cruising I think it would be fine.

Also, you mentioned liking the seasport and skagit. They are indeed nice boats but I I were going to actually use a boat for cruising I don't think I'd choose a deep V. I may be wrong but I would think the fuel bill would be horrendous.

Oh, and for salmon fishing, a kill bag works much better than an ice chest but for halibut I find an ice chest is mandatory.

I think the extra cost is for all the things you get in a cc that a cd does not have. I have liked the cc since I first test rode one almost two years ago and I think they are a better designed boat for my needs then the cd for a few simple reason starting with me being 6ft and 220. When i stand in my cd I can not see out a single window. All I can see is water next to the boat. if you are shorter you will not notice this but it drives me crazy and hurts my neck. the cc does this by having the roof all one level and this allows the window to be higher. I can see out every window with easy and so can susan. it also allow for more usable storage on a flat level roof then my raised roof. As the cabin is higher this allows for more room in the bunk. I can not sit up in the bunk of the cd or even on the pot with out having my chin in my chest. this again hurts my neck and pisses my off. what good is having he head in the v-berth during the day with a curtain if I can not sit on it. With the cc there is a lot more room, about a inch above my head. CC also was the first to raise the floor and provide good drainage which cd has now copied, glad they did just wish they had done it sooner. My favorite improvement over the cd is the closing in of the splash well. I have not seen any pic of this area yet but as fishin goes I think this is the best improvement made to the design. It allowed for a lot of room . you could place your batteries in this storage area just to the inside of where ours lazzetes are. this free's up room in both lazzetes but still provides lots of room in the middle with a hatch to get to your tackle. This also allowed for a place to put a cleaning and rigging table. You need to see a pic of it to get the idea. All these little but important items along with a better ride in the chop due to a deeper bow design make the extra price worth it. that is and always has been my two cent.

One feature that is missing in this discussion is the higher, wider gunnels and the straighter sides of the cc23 and cc26 allows the fisherman or the netter to stand straight up with his feet directly under his center of gravity and not have his (or hers) toes curled up. The cc's are a very comfortable fishing platform.
