2006 Suzuki DF 200

Any other Brats with the Suzuki DF 200? My new boat has one. She has low hours (approx 250) and was always used in fresh water.

Shes's running great and I'm trying to keep it that way! Before I launched the boat we changed the water pump, put 4 new sparkies, lubed the L.U, changed the thermostat, changed both fuel filters and all the anodes/zincs. The engine oil was done in the beginning of the season and the previous owner didn't use it that much since then.

Are there any known issues that arise with the Suzukis? Anything I should watch out for? My last 2 boats had Yamy's and were much smaller. This engine is a beast! But I'm worried that could mean that more problems could arise. Lol

To be clear, the only Suzuki corrosion issues associated with the dissimilar metal/CO2 plug was on the DF90/DF115/DF140hp models from 2002-2007. There are no other known corrosion issues with the DF200 models that I'm aware of.

That's the danger of posting the type of thread that I did. People then assume that all models of a certain outboard brand are susceptible to specific issues which is not the case.

I've been doing a lot of research on the Suzuki Outboard Forum and The Hull Truth. Just use the search box for the DF200 and you'll get lots of information.

Thanks, I will. What's your name on THT? Thats a good forum (usually! ) . I friended Thataway on THT.

I don't know anything about Suzuki outboards, though I owned a few Suzuki 2 strokes in the '80s. They were faster than I was.

Nevertheless, it's of interest to find out if the Suzuki 200 has a internal anode that's hidden away in the exhaust manifold. I'd be interested (if it was my motor, which it isn't) to find out if there was one and if it had been changed. I do assume they changed the iron plug long ago.

Yes, we bought all of the external and internal anodes and replaced them all.

There were actually 4 or more that screwed into the powerhead.

Glad you found and changed all of them. I didn't know outboards had internal exhaust manifold anodes until I read about them on the Suzuki posts. I looked at Journey On's Honda and found two I had never known of or changed. Fortunately they looked like new after 10 years.

Have fun with 200 HP.

buy gas go boating

open up to WOT and check rpm

prop specs?

3 or 4 blades

I dont know the prop specs. I'll go to the boat and write down the pitch size.

Its a SS, 3 blade. The WOT seems very low but not in a bad way. Maybe its not propped correctly. My WOT is 4900/5000 RPM and speed in knots was around 35.

nice motor
White or black?

That is a 6100 rpm max motor

m2cw is adjust motor height until you see anti ventilation plate when running and check it at WOT and record rpm before swapping props

Black with red graphics.

love it. I was looking a Suzuki 250 or 300 for our Parker if the Yamaha F250 dies or might be a retirement gift and the current one

Hey, jason, how does 35 knts on a 25 feel? Choppy? 200 hp must feel good.

I got Journey On up to 25 knts in south San Diego Bay and it was banging all over the place. Had trouble reading the speed. That's with 150 hp.

Oh, very choppy. I just went that fast for a few seconds to check the WOT speed. The engine is powerful though. She'll cruise all day long at 25 knots, depending on the sea conditions.

Might want to replace the other 2 spark plugs !~ Thats a six cylinder motor with a 6000 redline , sounds like its severly overpropped or has growth on the bottom .
Marc

Oops! I'll check the service invoice. Hopefully they did all six (i probably had four in my mind from my old F80).

The bottom was spic and span. It was a fresh water boat and had no bottom paint. I however had them paint the bottom last month since Im in a slip in the salt.

As, I stated earlier l'll check the prop dimensions and report back.
