20 Years With The Same Boat

This post is a commemoration of a great day in my life.
On 7/14/89 (Bastille Day) I picked Adeline up from Mark Toland at the factory.
It was a sunny Friday afternoon and I hadn't slept for days, such was the excitement.
I was 30.
Now I'm 50.
Still running...
The original Johnson 70.
The original Johnson 15.
Original Steering.
Original trailer.
It was my 4th boat.
It is my last boat.
It will outlive me.
And the next owner.
And the next...
Never a regret.

I have been asking for - and getting - a heap of good advice on this forum about the right C-Dory for me and Adeline's post tells me rather convincingly that I'll not regret getting us into a 22 cruiser.

Pete on Adeline.........

I had a very similar experience with High Tide. a 1983 Classic.
It was mine for 26 years and now is still in our family as my son purchased it from us this spring.

I also bought mine new from Mark Toland at the Kent factory, towed it to Alaska and used it for 25 summers.

It was a great day in my life.
On 8/10/83 I picked HIGH TIDE up from Mark Toland at the factory.
It was a sunny Friday afternoon and I had driven for 5 days from Alaska to pick it up. excited the whole time.
I was 43.
Now I'm 69.
Still running...
The original Johnson 115 wore out, replaced with a Honda 90.
The original Johnson 15.
2nd cable Steering and finally hydraulic.
2nd trailer as the original dissolved from salt water.
It was my 4th boat.
It was my 2nd last boat.
It will outlive me.
And the next owner........son Dan
And the next...maybe me again if the 26' gets to be too much boat for an old guy and Dan wants to change.
Absolutely never a regret.

Although I love my "new to me" 2005 26' C-Dory I will always remember the many great times and fishing trips in the old 22' Classic.
