Don't know if anyone of you are following this journey -- I found it pretty interesting. This may be the next Dr. Bob...

Some young voyagers continue on, others reject the sea. We saw Robin Lee Graham off on his circumnavigation on the Lapworth 24 "Dove". He took much longer to circumnavigate, stopped, got married to Patti and changed to another larger boat, before returning to San Pedro. He lived in Montana, but to my knowledge never continued in his sailing career. Although Robin was 16 when he left, he was 20 when he returned over 4 years later. There seems to be an other set of young adventurers--Robin left in the early/mid 60's.

Dr. Bob,
"Dove" was one of a handfull of books that I ever read more then once. I read it for a book report in high school and I still have the book today. I had not thought of Robin & Patty for some time and your account of whatever happened to them sparked my interest again. For that I am very thankful. It brought back some good memories.

Seeing young people take on such great adventures is very imspiring to even us old farts. It gets the juices flowing again and makes us all want to get out there and do something...but I will keep a little closer to shore in the process...The Bahamas are close to the Florida shore so I will include it in my float plan.

Thanks for the memories.

He is from my hometown. I have been following him and can hopefully make the festivities when he arrives in Marina Del Rey.
