The first C-Dory 22’ that I ever saw, was when I picked up "R-Dory" in Spring, Texas, purchased on ebay.

That fall, the first 16’ C-Dory I ever saw, was when i picked up "Lil Sis" in Idaho Falls, purchased through a c-brats.com listing.

Obviously, I’m reading everyone's comments on c-brats.com with interest, trying to learn more about C-Dory boats.

Most people do their research in advance, I have had the pleasure of learning about these great C-Dory boats while enjoying the adventure first hand.

I have sold the 22’ and am very much enjoying the 16’.

Here is the question/s, the 16’ has a 40 HP Johnson (1990 model year, 202 hrs. total).

Yesterday, we travelled down river to the Hawkeye Marina for a terrific hamburger which was 27 miles.

Round trip total, 2 hours, 40 minutes, consumed 10.6 gallon (at 4000 RPM cruise), so tell me, is that good performance for a 16’ and GPH consumption/economy, etc.?

No, I don’t know about the prop, looks like the stock one that came from the factory.

If a better prop, please advise which and why.

Regards,

Ron Fisher

Hello C-Otter,

Yes, 54 miles round trip "we travelled down river to the Hawkeye Marina for a terrific hamburger which was 27 miles".

Are you coming over for the gathering?

Regards,

Ron Fisher

54 miles and 10~ gal of fuel is about 5MPg in my book. Heck my Dodge Ram V-10 does not do much better than that and I'm not on the water buying hamburgers...

Keep the prop and the boat!! Or come buy my TomCat... Cook your own hamburgers and do that trip in about two hours!! (with twice the fuel...)

Good luck at the gathering, wish we could make it!!

To answer the prop question, you would have to have the WOT RPM numbers, and the speed at WOT. (In flat water preferably). I agree, it appears as if you are doing well and would not worry. There are trade offs with props, such as not as good getting on a plane.

Hello, we also have a 16 ft. Angler with a 35 hp outboard. We burn about 2.5 gallons of gas per hour. Or, I can tell you that we trolled for a total of 36 hrs. the last 3 days and burned 30 gallons. Our outboard is old, with a newer more fuel efficent motor I am sure the gas mileage would be better. We also were trolling in 2 ft. seas yesterday and had no problems.

I live in Southern California, to go from Long Beach to Catalina island is about 30 miles one way. I have a 2004 C-dory with a 40HP honda 4 stroke. I travel heavy a 30 gallon bait tank + fishing gear etc. with 2 people each weighing 225 pounds. it takes me about 2 hours to get thier traveling between 14 - 19 MPH at 4500 RPM I use 6 gallons of gas one way. My speed varies on the way their because of wind, current, swell etc, but my RPM's are usually held constant at 4500.
