14th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza, April 6 to 10, 2016

14th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza
Wednesday, April 6, 2016 to Sunday, April 10, 2016

If you are interested in attending the event, please reserve your spot by indicating on this thread that you will be going and that you are signing up for the full five-day journey. Please do not sign up unless you can commit to the entire event.

You might look at the last 13 years of threads if you want to get some idea of what this gathering is like. There is also prior video documentation of the event to help visualize the journey.

There is a strict ten (10) boat maximum for this event because of Duck Club and San Francisco marina space limitations. The next eight boats signed up on this thread will be able to go. There are no exceptions.

Please note that this event is at least one month earlier than normal though it is two weeks later than last year. This schedule is because of the unavailability of San Francisco marina reservations at other dates. Also, with our continued drought conditions this earlier date may be better for Delta water conditions.

Right now two boats are already signed up, namely Dinner Belle II and Pounder. There are only eight spaces left! Please be aware that this event usually sells out with the maximum 10 boats.

This is arguably the oldest, most long-lived event of all C-Dory gatherings. If you make the commitment to go on this trip you will likely enjoy the journey. There are many repeat folks at this event.

All are welcome, both new timers and old timers. More later on this event but please reserve your spot now if you intend to go. It is only three months away!

Sincerely,

Sign up Far C'r!

Bernie would probably like to go if someone needs a crew person, I would have to verify with him to be sure he is available

Thanks again to you guys for making this a highlight of the year.

C-Hawk and crew is planning on attending this year. I plan on bringing the boat up to Oregon to use while I'm working up here. I'll schedule for the cruise at the same time.

It's about time Roger......I am tired of getting all the blame for stuff myself...

Now that Petaluma got rid of all the boat homeless it is boring without you...

Well, it looks like we are now at our ten boat maximum. If anyone drops out the next in line can come in. Looking forward to another fun cruise.

Hello All!
Laurie and I were out cell / internet range ! - Vacation! Looks like we will hang out on a waiting list and see how it plays out. We are sorry we missed it but then again some other crew will get a great cruise. Jim please place our name on a waiting list . Thanks!
If nothing else we may see a number of you in Catalina, a first for us.

I opted out on this spring run due to an earlier commitment and the thought of possibly making it down that way in conjunction with a fall trip, prior to, (or in route to), the Lake Powell gathering. Would it be as good a trip then, (and I'm thinking weather, water level, accommodations, and boating population density) are the things that I can think of that would affect the pleasure of the trip.

Harvey, to me the biggest feature of the trip, is the Duck Club and the comradely/organization. It may be a little hotter in the Delta in Sept than in April. There may be a chance of stronger winds on the bay, and straits, but that can vary a lot day by day. I doubt that you will see much other difference, as long as you avoid times when school is out/summer vacationers. Fog can always be an issue in the Bay.

On the other hand, I would suggest a couple of weeks exploring the Delta, and then at least another week down going down the River to San Francisco Bay, and exploration there. We spent a full summer in the Delta in our of our sailboats, after sailing up from S. Calif. We have stopped there on several of our other trips up and down the West Coast. Great place!

Bob, Thanks for your reply. I agree that a longer time on the Delta, the river and SF Bay area would be preferable. I don't know if there would be anyone else from the PNW area (or other areas) that might want to meet in the SF area prior to going over to Lake Powell. The comradery is great and maybe we can rummage up a Fall flotilla for the Bay that would provide that.

Looking at teh "El Ninio weather pattern, I'm thinking it may be dryer and maybe less windy by Sept. but then, that is pretty far distant forecasting.

Fellow Brats
You're all signed up now for hopefully the best Extravaganza ever! Marcia and I will have to miss this one because of another back surgery for Kent slated for the end of February. This procedure will fuse the rest of the lumbar area, so no more problems, right?

For those of you who haven't participated on this cruise, you'll have a ball! For those of you who we've come to know from previous cruises, we will miss you!

Hopefully, we'll meet up again in Two Harbors. May the weather gods be kind to you!
