09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Thanks for asking Tom. Port engine on the boat indicates overheat although there is no sign that it actually is. I immersed 3 temp senders on hot water today to see if one went crazy when warmed up a little. 3 were good. 4th broke while removing due to caked on salt in T-stat hsg. New one due here monday. I may swap ECMs side to side and retest after that.

There is a thread on wayneswords.com that has been up for a couple weeks right now taking about water in the Bullfrog gas. Everyone that is headed for the lake might want to avoid Bullfrog gas and get there gas at Halls or one of the other marinas. Just a heads up to avoid any unnecessary problems.

We are currently having coffee at the Page McDonald's (after boondocking in the noisy [and I'm DEAF!] Walmart parking lot.

We will pick up a few more items at Walmart, and probably head for Wahweap about mid-morning to prepare, and launch.

Our trip to Page via the north rim of Grand Canyon was fine, but we just about got frozen-out at the north rim (31degrees...we were packed for Lake Powell temps for the most part), so we decided to backtrack to Page a couple day's early.

We plan to spend a day or two wandering in Wahweap Bay so I can 'test the thermostat's a bit. (Longish story....) If everything is A-ok we'll probably head uplake on Monday.

...we'll be monitoring CH 16.

We'll see everyone at Oak Cove (if not before).

Best,
Casey&Mary

With much disapointment Bill and Sue on C-Swell will not be able to make this years Lake Powell trip. Sue just came home from a rehabilitation center yesterday and is recovering from a broken knee cap. With the brace she is wearing it would be very difficult to get around on the boat. Hope everyone has a great time, with safe and uneventful trips to and from Powell. We will see you all at next years gathering, if not sooner.

Hey Casey. I recall the Walmart camp site from last year. That is a noisy spot. Surprising how much traffic goes by. At least Mcdonalds is close. Good luck on the temps of the engine. We are delayed here getting Carolyn out of her house. We expect a lease signed in a few days and house empty of stuff by the 25th. First bit of October we will hit the road. Perhaps a few days near port townsend or ? Then south We are disappointed to miss the gathering but still plan a late season powell visit near wawheap end. George

We've kept putting off this decision, but with the clock ticking it is clear that events are occurring that will preclude our ability to make this trip to Lake Powell. We've really (really) been looking forward to it - meeting other Brats, learning more about our boat, and just seeing Lake Powell - but I guess not this time. We definitely have the lake on our list of "must dos" so whether we make it there later this year or next, we will make it. With my retirement, followed by our move to Nevada (with all the associated packing, unpacking and organizing), and some important projects we want to get done on the boat (both expected and unexpected) before it is ready for this sort of voyage, we just have too many things to get done in too little time. So enjoy the gathering and we hope to meet many of you at some of the other upcoming gatherings!

Dave & Donna on Patriot are at Kanob and will launch today. See you Saturday at Oak Cyn. Drove from So Cal yesterday 8 hrs. Looking forward to meeting all.

Harry and Susan Ames are departing with Still Crazy for St. George tomorrow for a bit of business, then will be at Wahweep on Wednesday PM. Probably in the rv park for the night, then will launch
Thursday. Hope to see some or many of you over the weekend at least.

I'm launching from Bullfrog tomarrow afternoon & will be slowly making way for Oak Canyon.  JoLee is doing much better with the vertigo, but she thinks it best to skip Powell this year.  Looking forward to seeing old friends & meeting new.

Will be taking the SPOT & leaving tracks to see how it does in the canyons of Powell.

My buddy and I can't leave until Saturday morning, but reading all of your updates is great. Changing oil in the tow vehicle today, doing laundry, packing... mundane but somehow much more fun when it's trip prep :D

Still hoping to launch at Bullfrog some time on Monday, and then to go looking for Brats :thup

Hello fellow C-brats,

We will be leaving Colorado Springs on Sunday 9/23 and will check into
Wahweap marina that afternoon. We will be too late for Oak Canyon but
hope to run into some C-brats during the week.

Be Safe,
Mike and Kathy
