I just looked at the menu and cant find anything over 20 bucks???? we used to just go and order off the menu but as a group???

I'm guessing you didn't make it past the first page of the menu; although I didn't see anything in the price range as quoted. As I recall, they used to have 3 or 4 items that our group could select from, not the full menu. Since they have been closed for three years, policies may have changed.

If they're doubling the prices for a group, that should be an indication of how they feel about blocking off a weekend night for a group.

Jim is on the right track of course and those prices were correct Patrick. They had a 3 item option list for such a group as ours and the rates were not too different than we have been quoted from other restaurants in town for the past two years. The rumor mill is unique in that they don't have a group policy/rate (positive attitude!) and simply want a reservation plus a few other details. Their accommodating attitude wins the business in this case.

Rob, There is no need to do anything else expect the signup list. Check back on this thread again in May for full details but we will have room for you. We look forward to seeing you guys again and hope to make FH a good event for you and the group.

I am interested in buying a CDory. I would like to attend the Friday Harbor gathering so I could meet some C Dory people and also compare the various boats. I am excited about the opportunity to meet you and talk about the boats.

Steve Douglass

Hi Steve, and Welcome. Friday Harbor is a great place to come and see the C-Dory family. There are lots of boats, (usually about 40 - 50) and tons of really neat people there. Good times and lots to learn. Be sure and look up Friday Harbor so you know it will take a boat, plane or ferry to get there, and probably good idea to book a place to stay early if you are going to need that.

There is usually a full compliment of boats from the 16 up to the TomCat. You will have a fun time deciding.

Until today I thought I'd have to miss this year's Gathering (it would have been my 4th). We have friends from Australia visiting that weekend. We haven't seen them in 30 years, so the Gathering was out for me. I just got email today that their trip has been delayed. Now,they won't arrive until Sunday May 21. So I'm thinking of coming to Friday Harbor on Friday and leaving Saturday late or Sunday very early.

Is there room at the dock? Can I leave it up in the air in case something changes, or do I need to make a definite reservation?

We would prefer you add youself to the signup list if you are planning to stay any nights at the dock. As we get closer to final numbers with the port, it will help insure enough space for all. Glad you can make it Tosca, and try to stay through the potluck at least!

Thanks Aurelia.

I've added myself. I'll most probably stay Friday and Saturday night -- leaving at o'dark thirty Sunday morning. Normally, I'm very lazy on the boat in the mornings, and rarely pull anchor until noon at the earliest. So this schedule will be an experience. More likely to get flat water home, I suppose

Steve, You are right about the flat water. And, from someone who worked nights for 30 years, the sunrise IS the best part of the day

Yesterday in Sheridan WY it was 60 F this am woke to 12+ inches of fresh Spring
snow. 20 F tonight and 50 F tomorrow I am trying to ready Baxter II with some
wiring additions but to cold. Took plow off Sunday so can't get out anyway.

What might we expect in Bellingham and Friday Harbor. Plan to arrive in
Venture 23 Baxter II on Friday.
We have high homes. 59 would be fine. Thank you Craig

:(

Craig, You can expect lots of great folks, good fun, great sharing, some good food, and weather  Temps can be mid 50's to 70ish. And, I'm going to go out on a limb here, but no snow. You won't need a shovel, unless it is for the excessive fertilizer that occasional gets to flowing on the dock. There are times when it rains, and times when it is sunny. This will be the 10 anniversary at FH, and we have had both so bring a wind breaker and a T-shirt.

Don't know if anybody is counting, but it's 20 days to FH CBGT.

I'm sure there will be come C-BRATS in the islands before that.

If you have a DSC enabled VHF, (and you should -- meaning it has GPS on board or input) and an MMSI number, you should put this number into your VHF DSC call list:

036697831 = C-BRATS Group MMSI # on DSC

and try it on for size. Here is a link to the thread with more info.

check it out and try it out. Get a group together and practice it where you are all side by side and make it look easy.

It is good practice, and DSC calling is becoming more popular (accepted).

I'm planning on heading up to the San Juans from Seattle on May 15th. Hoping to be in Friday Harbor on the 19th but have to leave the 20th to meet up with my group for Alaska!

Are you interested in the Friday Dinner?

We have a group reservation for Friday night the 19th at the Rumor Mill.

http://www.rumor-millsanjuan.com/

Please reply to this thread if you are planning to be there for dinner Friday night (and how many seats). We will get a basic headcount for the restaurant this way.

They have plenty of space but we try to give them a general idea of how many tables we will need.

Thanks Brats,

Greg and Cindie
