05/18 - 05/20 - 2012 Friday Harbor CBGT

Tom,
Great information..but pirate bu oys apparently is not available for apple O S ( I phone). I use wind finders pro and
Nd NOAA buoys.

We were at our friends at Sequim Bay until 1 pm and it was not bad outside. @ 4:30 pm the straits off Dungeness Spit look reasonably calm.

We plan on crossing from Sequim about 9 am or earlier tomorrow.

A half dozen or so C-Dorys gathered so far. One of the dock attendants was putting out the reserved flags for the rest of the folks who will be coming in. Sunny, light breeze, a comfortable 62º here in Friday Harbor currently.

:D

A few of us are here now, Dreamer , In Cahoots, Kerri On , Grey C Lune, and Wild Blue in their summer moorage spot. Kerri On came down from Roche Harbor this afternoon, it was flat most of the way but for a foot to foot and a half 4 miles north of Friday Harbor in wind over tide situation. Carolyn was off watch having a nap in the bunk so 4200 and 13 knots bow trimmed down. Nice run sunny with some dolphins about. Having happy hour at the moment life is good See you all tomorrow. George and Carolyn

Make sure you point out the dolphins to jim. He needs proof that we have them here. Also point out the sun to him. He has accused us of not having one more then once.

I brought the sun with me, Tom. :hot It's been beautiful and sunny since we arrived in WA. Can't guarantee how long that can hold out, but I did the best I could with it... hope y'all have enjoyed it. We haven't seen any dolphins here, yet. We told our locals in Texas to contact their cousins up here and let 'em know we were coming.

After happy hour on Roger and Janet's boat, 8 of us went to the Cask and Schooner for supper - good food and a delightful waitress. Nice company, plenty of lively conversation.

We'll be looking forward to seeing more boats and crews as they arrive tomorrow.

Nothing certain yet, but I hope to arrive late today (Friday) and Crash the party!

"Katmai" will be getting some minor upholstery work in Bellingham, and I have a couple days "free" until my flight on Tuesday ... so I may come to the FH CBGT afterall! There are a couple options, but my backup plan is to ride the ferry over from Anacortes.

So if you see a grey haired 'ol guy sleeping on the dock ... that's probably Me!
(And feel free to leave a quarter in my coffee/Scotch cup!) Is panhandling allowed at a CBGT ?????? :-)

See 'Ya soon!

Best,
Casey

Casey, see me about that daytime sleepiness thing. I might be able to help you find a cure

Tom and Bob, Thanks for the app info. I tried Pirate buoys but having a hard time with getting local ones. (GPS ???). Today looks bumpy for crossing Strait of Juan de Fuca. Humm. maybe later.

Home work today and work Sunday.

Hope to get to see you all, soon, somewhere.

Barry & Patti, Thank you so much! You did it again :D Thanks to Jim for the entertainment at the potluck. So much fun meeting so many new C-Brats and visiting with those that we've known for years. We're pleased that Don and Dee were able to join us. That is just so special. :love

Take care everyone.

C-Brats #22

It's early Sunday and Ruth and Joe have already gone, no surprise there. We had a great time hosting. We think there were about 42-43 boats plus another half dozen brats here boatless. Thanks to everybody who generously donated items for the drawing. Great thanks to my two special assistants who drew the boat names out of the bag: Aven of Aurelia and Arwen of Two Lucky Fish. A special thanks to Jim of Wild Blue who provided live (and good,) entertainment, Teddy the wonder dog made a brief appearance, thanks to Pat and Patty who gave us a taste of nostalgia with songs they sang for their daughter's wedding, thanks to everybody who brought items for the potluck, it was fabulous as usual, Ruth and Joe brought "The Cake" (but we did notice that the corners disappeared Ruthie  ) the weather was great, we met lots of new people who always bring new ideas and fun. We had folks from Florida, Texas, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, two Canadian provinces, and Oregon. The C-Brats supply chest has been passed to Tom and Susan for the La Conner gathering (Thanks to the generosity of brats the tip jar has been refilled). Now Patti and I plus Roger and Janet of Dreamer, Merv and Kathy of Kingfisher II, and Jim ans Joan of Wild Blue are heading over to Sidney BC and then to Victoria for a few days of R & R. What fun we had, thanks everybody for sharing your time with us.
