05/16 - 05/18 - Friday Harbor 2014

We're there and will continue for a while Pt Townsend and other places to visit. Fun event. Joe and Ruth maybe a 22 by then? Or another sweet 19? See you all then. George

As you will read elsewhere on this forum, I am new to C-Brats and to C-Dorys. I just yesterday purchased Anna Leigh from the infamous David McKibbon. Amazing coincidence is that he and I live less than 1/2 mile from each other on Guemes Island! What's the odds???????

My wife, Kathy, and I are most definitely going to this event at Friday Harbor -- our very first C-Brats event. We are looking forward to meeting all you brats!

P.S. When you see the Anna Leigh coming into harbor on the 16th, I advise you to get out extra bumpers and other items of safety. I may bump a few boats and docks before I get that brake-less thing to stop

Do you need to know my new boat is 34'? I'll be coming in the new Tolly as she is up and running. Unless I brake her between now and then? :disgust

Should be fine. You might consider G dock as, I think, the slips are a little longer there. We normally have boats on both G and H docks.

We've been talking about taking the camper to Southern Utah after a May 5 wedding in Montana. I am not entirely sure if we will be back in time for the FH gathering but would love to join in the fun if we can.

Great news......

David and Kate McKibben, the previous owners of the Anna Leigh, may be accompanying the new owners, Sandy and Kathy McKean, to this event arriving on Friday. The McKibben's will be returning to Guemes Island later that night via the Washington State Ferries.

A re-christening ceremony may also be required assuming I have decided on a name by then (I have a name in mind, but I am unwilling as yet to divulge it ).

Yes, this boat is well loved! :)

sgmfish,

Good to hear. Good to have David with you for a bit of a trip, and it will be nice to get to meet and put a face to the new name here. As to the naming, take your time. You want that to fit, be right and not want to change it right after the lettering goes on. there will be another chance to do the ceremony.

Hi,

We're getting a little closer (34 boats!) and need to work out some things about the Friday dinner. I have been talking with Debbie of Downrigger's about how to do it since the unfortunate fire last year that totally destroyed the old downrigger's restaurant and several other businesses. Debbie and Downrigger's have been an excellent hosts every year and personally I would like to support her in this difficult time. She has reserved the Grange hall in Friday Harbor for us. It is up the stairs from the marina not far from the Whale Museum and the VFW. Easily within walking distance from the Marina still with a great view and can seat all of us. The menu will be a little limited as she is essentially catering in a different kitchen. Right now she proposes the following main dishes:

Citrus Chicken
Blackened Salmon
Braised Short Ribs

All would be served with mashed potatoes, vegetables and fresh baked bread. The price would be, including tax and tip $25.50.

There are two issues that need to be resolved soon:

[1] I would like to offer a salad main course as well so we have a slightly lower cost option and one that can be made meatless easily, she says she can do it so we need to make a decision about that.

[2] She needs to know our alcohol wishes as there is no bar at the grange and she will have to apply for a liquor permit if we want drinks served. Alternatively, we can BYOB; She won't need a liquor permit and can provide ice and glasses for drinks. It seems to make sense to me that we bring our own alcoholic beverages.

I know we can never satisfy every single individual and I will make the necessary decisions but would really appreciate getting a sense of what the group wants to do. So...Please let me know by posting your wishes about adding a salad and whether you are willing to bring your own alcoholic beverages on this thread NLT a week from today, March 12th.

I will post again a few weeks from now and, in order to makes things easier for Downrigger's, will ask for feedback about whether you plan to attend and what your dinner preferences are

Thanks very much.

Aloha From Maui,

I think the salad would be a nice option. Personally I will go for the braised ribs. Kate NOT. And BYOB is nOOOOOO problem. Just have to have the new boat owners stock the boat bar well.

Great job Barry and Patti. We'd go for a salad option and will bring our own beverage.
Look forward to seeing you all
George

Blackened Salmon sounds good to me, no to the salad, BYOB is just fine. How do I take care of the dock space or any other fees?
