05/16 - 05/18 - Friday Harbor 2014

Martin - small potatoes, in the scheme of life! We spent $2,000 fixing our trailer just so we could go to FH (really). Back at Squalicum, I hate to say, on the way to the ramp to retrieve my empty trailer clipped another vehicle (I guess that is what insurance is for). Just stuff! Great times, great friends, great memories, that is what it really is all about!

OK, so if we are down to telling the truth now, I can step up to the plate too. I'm still working on getting my auto pilot working so I can get to Friday Harbor  Ahhh, looks like it needs a new brain, so there goes a boat unit or two for sure. NOW, I'm aiming for Pender and hope I wind up there and not in Uculet or Port Hardy

The electronic gurus are saying it should be done by then.

Will try to make Pender.

Harvey, you can get to Pender Harbour without autopilot, it is just nicer to have it! Heck, I can navigate there on my iPhone!

Right Pat, however, my boat may be in Portland when I need to be navigating to Pender. I drop it off early, but it depends on how long it takes to get the install and everything back in order.

Would be nice to have everything under control, but this one is out of my hands, for now. Sure hope to see youi all up there.

Chuck & Penny. Sorry you won't be able to make it it to FH. I was looking forward to catching up with you guys. Hope you get to feeling better.

Hi Terry,

Couple of PMs in yer bin.

Martin.

Hi all. I just walked in the door. Ann went home with our son on the 25th & I stayed another week. I tried to live at hull speed. Enjoyed it really. Got to see a lot that you miss when on plain. Plus I got around 5.5 mpg :-) We had a great time at F.H. thanks to Patty & Barry. The best times of the trip was visiting around the camp fire with friends at Jones & Stewart Is. Martin, thanks for that English beer, that was a treat. Now I have a weeks work ahead of me cleaning boat & gear. :-( Till next year, Terry

Sometimes things just don't work. I've been sick and it has not gotten better, so Two Bears won't make it to Friday Harbor. Penny and I had really been looking forward to the gathering.

Chuck

Hi Chuck,
We missed you at FH. Now I see you have removed Two Bears from the Pender gathering. You ok?
Martin.

Count us in!!! It will be our first overnight and longest trip since getting Plan C this summer. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Dan & Lori

I hate to be the one to tell you this Dan, but you missed it. It was over 5 months ago. It is usually around the same time every May, so see you at the 2015 one.

Friday Harbor 2014 made it into Pacific Yachting's "Rendezvous Roundup". See page 51 of the December issue.

Hi Barry,

Not having "Pacific Yachting" mag, is the note a recap of 2014 or an announcement for 2015? Might be time for early planning, dates maybe?

Harv,

Pacific Yachting is a Canadian boating Magazine notable for the absence of bountiful bouncing bikini babes (always) and the presence of thoughtful articles on cruising, maintenance and safety (usually). Each year they have a rendezvous recap and we finally made it in. The recap was regarding the 2014 FHCBGT. After the first of the year I'll contact FH to schedule next year's, probably the 2nd/3rd weekend in May as usual.
