01/23 - 01/25 - Seattle Boat Show/C-Brat Convention

OK Ya'll
it is about time for me to start pumping up the Gathering and factory open house. I had an Email from the factory today to tell me that they are quite excited about the open house and preparations are moving along.

so far there are only 20 room reservations made. this is a far cry from the 50 or 60 of years past.

come on people lets get going here. pick up that phone, and or email ,to Linda, and reserve your rooms soon. We have reserved app. 50 rooms. The motel will hold rooms for us till about the 10th

Are we still going on the boat cruise on sat? I did not see a sign -up sheet The party is fri night at hotel then the sat get together at factory right Jim and Loree(duckless) from Florida on Jennykatz cc-23

Yes, the party Friday night at the motel and Saturday night at the factory

In the past Byrdman has organized this and promoted it. I believe that I remember him telling me that he was not going to partake this year. so, if there is someone out there that wants to take this on, be my guest. I am sure that if you PM Byrdman, he would help stear you in the right direction to get this rolling.

I talked to Linda recently , making sure we were all registered and in and she said we were only at 22 rooms. If that's representative sure increases my odds of winning a new TomCat in the drawing now doesn't it? :xtongue :xnaughty :wink

This is not an event to skip. Hey, Its to cold (Except for Jim in the tropical tip, and the Florida contingent) to be out doing maintenance, and where else might you win a new Handheld VHF? have all that good food, and get to meet all the nice people.

Merry Christmas,

Harvey

I have enjoyed the lock cruise each year in the past. Nothing to it really, other than going to the Argosy's home page and signing up. They have not in the past given us any discount, other than 5 or 10% for signing up early via the internet.....and even then, you still have to go into their office and get logged in. Downside....is there is ZERO refunds.

My take on it now is that I and others can wait until we know all else is in order and then make reservations prior to Friday of the Saturday cruise. That time of year, it seems no chance of the boat selling out all the seats. It has been a great time in years past and I like it.

Still up in the air now exactly when I will be coming out, and if or if not my Mother will be able to make the trip again. She is not getting any younger, but for sure loves the trip. Brigner's have just moved from Bama to TN and they will not make it, my Brother Mike and his wife B have other travel plans this year....I think Terry and Padre are going to hang out in FL this year too...so... the Byrd group may be small this year. Time will tell.

I do have another project going in that area that may also keep me from the lock and dam cruise...but...who knows.

Looking forward to seeing all my friends....and will have much more in the clear after next week...

Merry Christmas and may all my C-Brat friends have a Blessed and Safe 2009. Good health to ya all!!

hey hey hey
only 22 days till we meet .
hoping that we get more people signing in with Linda for rooms. we are still in the 20,s numbers.

i was skim reading the post and saw " drawing for a TOMCAT" what is that all about.

we are signed up for a hotel room. does that mean we are also signed up for a ticket to win a tom cat?

if not where the heck do i get a ticket?

Susan, now that you are signed up, and then if you are there, that would increase your chances, if there is a drawing wouldn't it?

I don't know - desperate times require desperate measures! Any bets on what the SBS will look like this year? We know that Olympic Boat Centers won't be there! Who else? It will be really interesting to see how much and what the dealers decide to display on the floor this year.

If they give away a Tomcat, I'm sure he'll come from the local Animal Shelter.... :cat :hug2 :love

Yep - I expect the show to be scaled down a bit too. However, there will probably be some very good bargains on boats for those with cash in hand. I did take a quick look at the current list of exhibitors on the boat show web site. I wonder how accurate that is as it still shows Olympic Boat Centers on the list.

Sure looking forward to this. D-in-Law birthday weekend and they are going to be in Seattle. It's going to be a 2fer.

anybody have a 2009 Waggoners yet? Wonder if it is worth updating for 1 year newer?

Thanks,

Harvey

Do not even think about cruising Puget Sound / Gulf Islands / Desolation Sound without a Waggoners! About $20, updated annually - we buy it maybe every other year.
Take a look, Bob Hale, the publisher, will probably be at the SBS, you might even get an autographed copy!

Jim, you're a retired guy now... haul that boat to the Pacific Northwest, buy a Waggoner's guide, and go enjoy some of the most spectacular cruising around. We bought our first Waggoner's when we ordered our boat at the 2006 SBS... and had 6 months of reading through it and planning; helped keep me sane (some feel that's debatable) during those last few months of working.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

"Waggoner is a cruising guide. Every boat should have one. There is also an excellent series of cruising guides by Douglass and Hemingway-Douglas. One is Exploring the South Coast of British Columbia.
I had three of them with me when we did the trip to Ketchikan. Invaluable in its information."

And Jim is right, come on up, bring the boat and get your Waggoner's and enjoy the PNW. However, If you are not in the PNW, I don't think that most of it will be applicable. There are lots of side bars and explanations that are useful, but the guides are primarily for the local cruising area, (the Puget, Juan de Fuca, San Juans and Gulf Islands). It was warm and windy today, (40+), no whining here now.

Looking forward to seeing you in Seattle.

OBC's space is being taken over by Lake Union Sea Ray, the new Bayliner, Trophy, Meridian, Maxum dealer.

Silverton, Cruisers Yachts and Carver will not be there since Blackfish Marine has gone out of business.

Show will be smaller than last year, but bigger than the first year at the exhibition center.

And just to tease everyone-

In the C-Dory booth will be the following:
16 Cruiser
19 Angler
22 Angler
22 Cruiser (Loaded!)
23 Venture
26 Venture
255 Tomcat

No - nobody but beer brewing Washingtonians or short wearing Texans buys CD25's and those markets are already saturated.
