01/13 - 01/15 - Seattle Boat Show/C-Brat Convention

Game time for those who must know, 1:30. I am staying far away from Seattle on Saturday, it will be crazy for sure. I was thinking that a boat ride would be nice Saturday, but as I look out the window as I type, a drenching rain is streaking by the window headed north. The wind is blowing about 25 to 30 mph. This is our 23rd day in a row with measurable rain, and even the natives are getting restless. The forcast calls for more more more :crook . But, the sun will shine Friday and Saturday nights for sure. Looking forward to the festivities. Robbi
 
Many thanks to Roger for posting the note about the collapsible crab pots a few days ago. GO look at these things !!! Upstairs at the North end of the Gallery on the Popeye's Stand.

They are very solidly designed, made by Ray Surette of Ladysmith BC and come in two sizes. Even the large one folds flat to about 2 ft. x 18 inches x 2.0 inches and the smaller one will fit in a Kayak.

(Didn't even want to ask what you do with 5 angry "Dungies" in a Kayak !!)

You can also get the same but rigged for shrimp.

I'm keeping my big old crates for local trips dedicated to crabbing, but these are the way to go to save space on a cruise.

I was able to change our flight and now will be arriving 10:30pm Thursday. I hope that gives us enough time to see the boats and maybe buy some mustang inflatable vests at discount on Friday.

Can't wait to get away from work and enjoy the fun!

When we were in Desolation in Sept. we had some excellent Sockeye several times. All we can get around here is farmed atlantic. :cry:
Any one know of somewhere to get a good sockeye dinner?

We will probably go straight to bed Thursday but we will see you for breakfast on Friday!

Hey - Friends don't let friends eat FARMED salmon!!! However most salmon in restaurants this time of year will be previously frozen but it will still be great. Also sockeye are harder to come by in the off season. I'd recommned a good king salmon meal this time of year. My top three recommendations for seafood restaurants in Seattle would be

1) Flying Fish
(very good, a bit pricey, quite swanky)
2) Etta's Seafood
(very good, a bit pricey, FABULOUS wine list)
3) Brooklyn Seafood Steak and Oyster House
More moderate in it's pricing, still great fish, great oysters and some red meat options for those who don't want fish.

Well tonight we had another tree fall on our property. This one took out the 2 story club house and almost the entire parimeter fence. I have class Thursday night and not much budget to work with. There are 2 more suspect trees that I may have to divert funds to removing. We may not be able to make the trip to the boat show as much as I was looking forward to it.
I will let you all know tomorrow and maybe post a few pics to the damage.
I am bummed.
 
OK, we did the SBS last Sunday (!!!!), and will be doing the CBC on Friday night and the factory party on Saturday night. But now that there is no SBS on Saturday during the day, how are the rest of you planning to spend the time?

We will have our room, as will a lot of you I think, at the Hawthorne Suites, and after all there is this (cough-talk, Charlie's dreaming) football game on the boob tube...I am wondering if people have specific plans for how they are planning on spending the time until the (Seahawks whup the Skins) football game. I need to make a run to the brewery to pick up the keg and deliver it to the factory, and would love to do a tour (it's a real SHORT tour, it's a small brewery) and tasting if anyone wants to tag along. You would need a car or a ride in a car, Snoqualmie is a quick and easy 25 mile run east on interstate...while we are there, we should stop in at the Snoqualmie Falls observation deck, it is AWESOME right now with all the rain - anyway, thought I would offer this as an open invitation. If anybody is interested, we should talk about time and so forth.
 
As I said before Pat, I'm up for it and will have a car if we have a bunch of folks. Would be eaier for a local to drive since I'm "from away" but will do it if we need the wheels. I think I saw the falls years ago but I'm sure they've gotten better by now :shock: , have not seen the brewery though, and wouldn't pass that up for anything..

I'll be at the motel until Monday morning, Starcraft Tom and his bride are in the other BR at the townhouse on Friday/Sat nights but I've still got a room for anyone that needs it on Thursday and Sunday night.

With all the rain we've had (and still having) the "falls" will DEFINITELY be better now. LOTS OF WATER FLOWING!

I'd definitely be interested in seeing the brewery and the falls before the 'Skins fall to the 'Hawks! Will have to bum a ride, though, but with all the folks looking for something to do before the game, there should be plenty of folks going. Thanks for the invite! Joe.
 
Hi Pat,
We'll be there Friday night. Actually we'll be in Seattle on Friday morning meeting with vendors and customers. I hope that we can get away early enough to attend the show for a couple of hours. I really want to see the new 25 tug and Sark's new 22. His excitement was contagious.

I would like to do the brewery tour on Saturday, but I also want to go to the Boats Afloat show at Lake Union on Saturday. If you're doing the brewery tour early, maybe I can fit both in. I just have to be able to walk the docks after an early morning beer tour. We look forward to seeing you, Patty and everyone else this weekend.

I'm getting into Seattle about 9:00 PM Thursday night and will be renting a car, if anyone is looking for a ride to the hotel. I plan a quick stop at the factory Friday morning, and then head up to the show.

Just look me up at the hotel Friday morning. I was going to head to the factory around 9 or so and then up toward the Qwest Center around 1015.
 
What is needed, how can we help? What can we bring to the get together on Friday or Saturday night. Name tags, plastic forks, spoons, paper plates, cups hot or cold or both, Ice, drinks. What is needed?
Will be going from Gig Harbor to the show on friday morning. Any riders?Have a room at the Hotel for friday night.
Rose and I would love to see the falls etc. Can offer rides for this. Any comp tickets left over. Could pick them up at the hotel.

Sensei is at the boat show now, but I will try an answer. Yes you could bring any of those things, name tags is a good one.
We are bringing some snack trays, but any food will probably be consumed and appreciated.

Try calling the factory at 253-839-0222 and ask for Kasey Tavares. She can reserve complimentary tickets at the will call ticket window for you.
 
Wow, what a mess. Reminds me of what Isabel did to our Potomac River place in 2004. Took down about 30 big oak trees, roots and all. Caught them with leaves on in September. Cosst me about 10 Big Ones to clean all that up. Fortunately it missed everything except my utility trailer :shock:
