    Why I love the sea/water

For me it is a feeling of freedom. Lack of constraints from roads and outside pressures. Boat time is all consuming, nothing else matters until you are tied up or back on the trailer. As the wooden guys say. Bundìn er bàtlaus mađur (Bound is boatless man)...

Pictures attached, apologies for not putting the location in the post title. C-brats get first choice, I will donate 1% of final sale price to the tip jar if sold to another C-brat.

    Rode Advice

I seem to have a hard time getting more than 250ft of 8 plaite in the anchor locker, without a few too many trips up front to spread it all out. The V700 seems to like some drop to keep it running smooth. How about keeping a few hundred feet in a cloth grocery bag in the front of the berth...

Anyone want to talk about jet boats?

Those SJX's are sweet machines, but I would not want to haul it back to Compeaux's. TJ's are pretty sweet also, you could run a fair bit in the sound without worries. They are thirsty beasts. A trip from town to the copper flats will not be cheap. I know you are leaning towards inboards but...

Questions about '82 22ft CDory with transom-area damage

If you have the time, knowledge and shop space, it will be a fun project. Take a hard look at the fuel and wiring system also. They may need to be replaced. If you have to pay a shop for the repairs keep looking for another boat. Last fall there were a handful of '04 - '07 22ft cruisers for...

    tomcat 255 questions

As always, great advice from all, thank you. I do appreciate the 22cruiser, although the mission may be slightly changing, you just never know! Towing is not much of a concern. The Alaskan Cadillac or "Trigger" as we call it can handle it (4dr F350 6.7L diesel). regards, Dave

    New to C-Brats

Welcome Matt, If the boss will spring for a road trip, come on up to Anchorage. Waypoint had a boat at the Great Alaska Sportsman's Show a few years ago. It would be cool if the manufacturer would have an "Alumni and perspective owners" event. Even a non-hosted event would be a great way...

    tomcat 255 questions

All, As I seem to be always looking for the next boat/project, the Tomcat 255's have been on my mind lately. A couple of questions for the group. Are they truely sized for 4-5 adults daytripping? Can everyone sit down comfortably? Are they under powered with anything but 150's on the back...

    Windlass Doesn't Operate -Battery Arrangement

I would get out a volt meter and start checking the switch, breaker and leads. Make sure everything is getting power. Also check the windlass for free movement. In my old Sprit 600, the gear box locked up (the grease turned to peanut butter), the motor was full of seawater. But it would never...

    different ideas for tow vehicles

I tow with a '12 F350 4dr short bed with the 6.7 powerstroke. It is overkill most of the time. I sold the 1/2 ton 6.0 chevy after a weekend of high cross winds while pulling the camper. The chevy would get 17/13 then 10/8 (boat / camper). The powerstroke gets 19/15 then 14/13 (boat /...

    gelcoat repair

As mentioned Spectrum Color can probably make you some, the bummer will be getting it shipped to Tok. GelCoat is classified as A HazMat. Spectrum quoted me around $150 in shipping for 2oz of gelcoat paste to Anchorage. I am working with CAC Plastics in Wasilla for a solution. I may bundle in...

Prop/WOT/engine height - would appreciate your thoughts.

Glad you got on the water and enjoyed the fruits of your summers labor. Sounds like you are getting to the bottom of your prop dillema. As far as motor height, I thought the best time to tune or adjust was when the boat was near the lightest state. It would be a real bummer if you tuned the...

Hands Free Pot Puller add-on for ACE

I have the line puller add on. I like it, much easier to hold the lever down, vs keep constant tension on the system. The only downside was i had to get the softcase modified to fit the extra gear. regards, Dave
