New to C-Brats

Hello all,
My name is Matt and I'm new to C-dory's and very excited to get into the world of C-Brats. I recently just started with Waypoint Marine in Seattle as a salesman training to specialize in selling sea dory's among other boats. I've been in the boat business my whole life selling different styles of boats, and I'm very excited to start my new career in selling C-Dory's! Any and all advice, tips, among other things would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to learn more! Looking forward to joining this new crew and community!

Hi Matt and Welcome to the C-Brat site, and to C-Dory's. This is the worlds best resource to learn about C-Dory's, and their community. We have the absolute best site owners and they have developed the most comprehensive site rules of any owners site possible....----> "Just be Nice" and it works really well.

Glad to see Waypoint investing in the brand, and working with NMI to get C-Dory back to the Seattle Boat Show, and hopefully to see more new boats on the water.

Advice: I guess it would be, Don't be a stranger here. Come out to the get together's, (known as CBGT's) and learn that you are not only selling a boat, but concept, a community, a lifestyle, and an SUV for the water. It's an entry ticket into a virtual yacht club and it is an investment into family, peace and sanity. (Also, some of us are a bit dedicated to C-Dory and C-Brat dom)

Stick around, It will be fun.

Welcome aboard Matt! Thanks for the greeting Harvey. I thought that when Matt said he was a C-dory SALESMAN the C-brat airwaves went silent sensing. Our philosophy at Waypoint is that we are not 'selling' boats but rather helping buyers get what they want in a boat that is suitable to what their intended use of the vessel will be. Yes our goal and intention is to sell new boats with a yes we can help you out attitude.

So Matt, think of yourself as a 'buyers helper' and you will realize great success and a sense of reward for your efforts.

155 views and no other comments == Stunned silence, abject disbelief,
or everybody is too busy boating, cleaning or collection their thoughts.

Really, They are all great folks,

And really GREAT boats, :thup :thup

Welcome Matt! I echo the comments made by Harvey regarding the C-Brats community. Prior to making our purchase my wife and I spent many hours researching the brand and models, and we made active use of C-Brats. The warm helpful response we received was wonderful. All of our pending questions were handled in detail and the result was we knew a C-Dory was the boat for us. We've now owned "Freedom" for 2&1/2 years and loved every minute. We've made wonderful friends at C-Brats gatherings throughout the country and we look forward attending many more gatherings.

I encourage you to make active use of this site and refer potential buyers here as well. You might also want to consider asking a few Brats to attend the Seattle Boat Show to act as owner consultants at the C-Dory display. They could concurrently show a few photos from gatherings and explain the value and fun of the group. C-Brats is a wonderful resource!

Thanks for all the great advice. I'm very excited to be so warmly accepted to the community, and I am looking forward to joining these get together's and getting to meet a lot of the C-brats in person and learn more. I really like the idea of getting some c-brats to come to the seattle boat show. I'm sure that will be great to have the people that have a passion for these boats come and share experiences and stories.

Thanks again!

Welcome aboard! Have fun learning about C Dory's. Be a regular visitor on the site, get out on a few of the boats if you can, so you know a bit about them. Hey maybe buy one! I would bet you'll get some C Brats willing to staff your SBS booth. One thing that is different from buying other boats is that when one buys a C Dory, you also get the opportunity to be a C Brat and enjoy the friendship of a lot of people all over the continent, rarely does one get such an add on from a purchase. Great people here and great boats. We are living aboard this Fall at the dock in Nanaimo. Different from the last 2 years where we spent fall and winter towing and boating down south. One can do it all in a C Dory. George :thup

That is the absolute best advice you can receive. If you really want to be a "buyer's helper" as your boss suggested, you really need to know what these boats can, and will actually do. If you have a true passion for boating, you'll be amazed and impressed at the myriad of ways we use these wonderful crafts.

When I bought my boat from a well-known dealer in Fife (that is named after a body of water in Seattle), I was floored to learn my salesman didn't even own a boat. Now, since I'd owned and been around boats all my life, it didn't matter much to me. But imagine if this were my first boat-- which I believe C-Dorys to be great entry level boats. That guy would never have been able to tell me about all the things I could do with it. I didn't even know about C-Brats until after I bought my boat.

So get on some boats, talk to us (the owners) about how we use ours, and you'll have a plethora of knowledge to help those perspective new owners find the boat that best suits their lifestyle.

Thanks for the information. Yes I do hope to one day be able to get a boat and from all the great reputation that c-dory's have and hearing how much all of their owners love them, c-dory is quickly jumping to the top of my list on the first boat to buy.

Welcome to our wonderful C-Dory world Matt. I was one of those people who's first boat was a C-Dory and I must tell you, after 10 seasons of ownership, I'm still in love with our boat. These little boats are so unique, so versatile. My wife and I love to cruise the San Juan Islands and Canada, I love to fish and the C-Dory does both so well, many times at the same time.

The advice to attend a CBGT is a good one. Especially at the Friday Harbor gathering in May, you'll get a great opportunity to see a whole lot of C-Dories lined up all in row, what a sight. Plus you'll have a chance to see all the different customizations most C-Dory owners implement on their boats. It's a lot of fun.

Once again, welcome aboard and don't be a stranger.

Welcome Matt,

If the boss will spring for a road trip, come on up to Anchorage. Waypoint had a boat at the Great Alaska Sportsman's Show a few years ago. It would be cool if the manufacturer would have an "Alumni and perspective owners" event. Even a non-hosted event would be a great way to connect with owners and potential buyers.

regards,
Dave

Here's my advice: Know what you're selling. It's not a sea dory. It's not a C-dory. It's a C-Dory. If you can't even get the name right, you won't have much credibility with prospective buyers.
