    question about western Erie Canal

As stated, backing a trailer comes with practice. For a newbie, to keep from getting confused on which way to turn the wheel for the trailer to go a certain direction, use this trick, Place your right hand on the bottom of the steering wheel with your thumb pointed in the direction you want the...

    Fall (2014) extended summer cruise

The Tenn. river has been mentioned several times and I would like to offer help to any C-Brat wanting to explore this area. I live on the Tenn. at mile 285 (intersection of Elk river and Tenn. river). It is approx. 7 miles upstream from Joe Wheeler State Park and a gated subdivision. I can offer...

    02/28 - 03/02 - St. John's River

RobMclain, Understand you are going to Lake Martin first. If there is any way to fit in the Hontoon trip you will never regret it. Having grown up in the Lake Martin area (but not boated there in probably 50 years), and now living and boating on the Tenn. river, I can tell you the adventure of...

Does your trailer 'clunk ... ?

I have observed the slightest clunk even pulling trailers without surge brakes. It does not matter which truck I am pulling with or which trailer I am pulling. Sure it is more pronounced on some but there on all. The draw bar is fairly tight but can be felt to have a little play. My assumption...

Dessert 1st to the St. John's River

The south florida is a new term to me. I would love to know the route, all the way down to Key West, or across at Marithon? Plan to spend the winter on the St. Johns but may trailer down for that loop if it gets cold on the St. Johns. Wanted to do this in my C-Dory but traded for a Rosborough...

    Martini 21

In dec. 2005 I purchased the last 21' tug from Ranger prior to them starting to build the 21ec. The web still had a martini site that ranger had and I had them add a engine cover seat back that they used on the martini launch. You could get the martini launch with either an electric motor or the...

Active Captain has a C-Dory owners group

I agree with Bob, and hate to see another forum that the world of good info. carried here will be split up. With the vast experience here there is not another forum that matches it. I follow Tugnuts, R246 Owners, Trawlers and Trawlering and none match C-Brats for good info. for our type boats...

    honda generator

Bob, Thanks for a very detailed reply. I was about to buy the Smart unit when someone mentioned success with the spp6e. At that price I decided it was worth a try. If it won't cut it in comes a Smart start. Ron P.S. I am waiting for the alum. flatbottom to come and then the 9.9 for logs.

    honda generator

A 13500 BTU is close. I have a 13500 duo therm on my Rosborough and it will start sometimes and not start at other times. The start amps is the problem not running amps. I just ordered a Hard Start Capacitor supco spp6e from Patriot supply for $19.25 but have not installed it yet. Read up on it...

    Cdory vs Ranger Tug

John, I have owned both a Ranger 21 tug and a C-Dory 22 Classic (1985) which is like the 22' Angler today (cockpit and cabin dimensions) I am a slow typist and would be glad to discuss them with you if you are interested. Both are great boats and you can't go wrong with either but both fit...

C-Dory 22 Cruiser use in hot weather

My Alabama weather is not quite as hot and humid as Houston but not far behind. My 22' classic was fine and I did not have the opening front center windshield, With the side windows open and the cabin door open the ventilation was good and you could open the hatch over the berth for even more...

    Decisions decisions

Well, just a few comments in reply. I spent a few years airboating all over Florida and Louisiana (what a blast and good time), but then decided to settle down to normal boating and cruising rivers. Started with a Ranger 21' tug (pre EC) and loved the boat on the St. Johns River in Fl. but...

    The new iPad (HD! 4G!)

With the 4G and high resolution camera it appears that streaming vedio and picturestreaming activity can use a standard monthly AT&T data plan in 10 minutes and the higher Verizon data plan in 20 minutes. This certainly is past my recreation budget and will be interesting to see what they do...

Steering sytem advice for CD 19 Angler

Agree with the above, replaced it on my 22' classic and only problem was that the engine had to be taken loose to get the cable pulled out. No big problem other than you may have to borrow an engine hoist to hold the engine up while you work the cable. Ron
