    Anacortes to Skagway

Pat...I got a feeling that if you don't get a certain gal to a tidewater glacier...she won't be a happy camper. Can't do that around Revillagigedo. Any chance you will be able to range further north? Say to Le Conte Bay? Or the more dependable Tracy Arm?

A roll or two of good quality duct tape...and a roll or two of good quality stainless steel wire...of different gauges. Amazing the number of problems that can be remedied with these items.

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

George...I think some boats are headed up to the NW after Powell. I will be up there in June-July. Iridium is the Sat phone I like...Global Star is good...but their coverage gets a little iffy in Alaska. They say they will remedy that this year. Don't know when. Iridium has worldwide coverage...

Another great idea! Clear, easier access sounds good to me. It will be great to hear comments and ideas about this possibility.

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

Casey...doesn't do any good to talk to Bill...you know who you have to talk to! George...yep...will be up there somewhere...say between Anacortes and Glacier Bay. Haven't really nailed it down yet. Sounds like a good topic for the camp fire at Powell. Suggest you get the Douglass Guides and...

    Mackenzie River, NWT

Any of you folks up there on the northern end have any experience with the Mackenzie River? Can't be too many ramps to choose from...there aren't many roads to choose from. Looks like it would be a GRAND ADVENTURE! Any thoughts?

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

George...It could be said that all the plotters use the same raw data...but they sure end up looking different on the screen. It's absolutely amazing to see my Garmin and Raymarine plotters side by side, looking at the same area...and noting how different they are. I would buy the chip...you can...

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

George...I have the Garmin machine and their cartography, even on the lakes, is fabulous. These "lakes" products are designed with fisherman in mind...so the bottom and structure are important. On a flooded canyon like Powell, the plotter makes it possible for you to stay above the old river...

    Need Ideas: Flame Proof material...

Casey...I would be hesitant to completely wrap the exhaust tube with insulating material. I think that there is a substantial amount of exhaust gas cooling happening there and the result of a wrap would be increased temps at the thru-hull. I know of a boat that has the thru-hull mounted much...

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

George...I would recommend the Stan Jones map...it's available at the stores and marinas in the area. It's got the buoy numbers and lots of info on the sights to see. Also, I like the Boaters Guide to Lake Powell by Michael Kelsey. Lots of info on the geology, archaeology, hikes, campsites etc...

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

Looks like the official dates for Powell will slip a bit...to April 20 thru April 29. Seems certain folks will be in a different hemisphere...so they'll need some time to get back to the hemisphere that contains Lake Powell. When El & Bill get where they have an internet connection they will...

    Firearms onboard

Joe...sounds to me like you would end up with a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches long...big trouble even if it did hold together while firing!

    04/20 - 04/30 - Lake Powell

Brent and Dixie...I usually launch at Wahweap because it's closest to San Diego. Almost always range uplake to at least Bullfrog/Hall's...if not further. So no problem meeting anywhere on the lake. Because of my work schedule I like to launch on a Thursday...say 3/30 or 4/6 and would pull out on...

Passing along info that Steve came up with...as an alternative to parking your rig at the launch ramp...he has discovered that Ace Parking will allow trucks with boat trailers to park in their long term lot for $12/day. The lot is near the airport which isn't far from the ramp. Ace phone is...
