    C-25 Autopilot

Boris- Our autopilot is an 8001 series which should be similar to yours except for a larger display. The installation on ours was done by EQ Marine, so I have little help to offer other than pictures that show the pump mount, compass sensor location, and slave unit installation. I will email...

Need your help, must part with our wonderful 25

El and Bill - Thank you for your kind thoughts. We will definitely continue to read and maybe even comment on the many and varied posts on this site. Helen will recover (we are committed to this goal) but it will take some time and that is the reason that we were forced to sell Scooter. Now...

To Shower or Not to Shower

Helen and I disagree on this one and since she is "close-at-hand" at present, I have to say that the shower and head are nice additions ( I really think that Mike has the right idea).

    cd-25 cockpit drains

I don't know about snow load capabilities, but this past summer we had six people on our 25 for a BBQ (4 on the deck and 2 in the cabin). I too was curious about the scuppers and how much weight the back deck might hold before scuppers would start to submerge. We placed all six people on the...

    fridge users please help

The new generation Danfoss compressors require very little current draw. We opted for a Tundra unit which I installed this past winter $585 total cost including Refrigerator, cable, fuse block, switch, and vent covers (installation details are in our photo album under winter projects). In...

    Proper prop for a 25 with a Honda 150

Jim and Laurie, Sorry for the delay in answering your post on this topic. Yes, Pat is correct the 9902 is the ProPulse that fits the 135, 150, and the 225. $152 is a great price. The proper setting will probably be between 15 and 17 depending on load (weight in the boat) and elevation (high...

    CD25 Swamped in Cook Inlet

Surprisingly, more boats sink from defective leaking through-hull fittings than from the wave over the stern swamping. Several years ago, we watched the "Dusty Rose", a 27 ft. diesel powered Sea Sport, swamp and sink in relatively calm waters 36 miles West of Newport. The skipper and crew were...

    engines for 25

I agree that the balance of weight in the CD-25 is forward by design and that is my point. Why would anyone want to make it a stern heavy boat! The original 22's were designed for 70 hp two-cycle engines. I powered our 1993 22 Cruiser with a 90 hp Tohatsu to keep weight light in the stern...

    engines for 25

Larry, You're right in that if you are running in mainly smooth waters, the 25's hull might make 25-30 mph with some degree of comfort. My point was that a following sea will have more opportunity to shove a stern to the side and broach the boat (with a V-6 on the stern). I forget that many...

    engines for 25

Larry, Thanks again for all of the help and good advice that you offered us when we were purchasing our 25. On the topic of engines, we have to keep reminding ourselves that these are Dorys (not a fast hull). The problem that I would have with adding a V-6 engine to the stern is that it...

    engines for 25

Just a note of caution, Powerboat Reports July issue posted an article on a E-Tec powerhead replacement needed on one of their test engines (90hp) after only 100 hours. The engine didn't fail but developed a "rattling noise at idle". They will update the cause in a future issue.

    Proper prop for a 25 with a Honda 150

Joe, The prop is a four blade hub set at 16 pitch for now. Our boat is usually full of gas and water, a large cat litter box, plus gear for fishing halibut, Bottom fish, Salmon. My wife has loaded every square inch of available space (not occupied by my fishing gear) with deck chairs,BBQ...

    Proper prop for a 25 with a Honda 150

We were using a Solas at first with poor performance and worse economy; switched to a ProPulse adjustable (15-21 pitch) prop with excellent results. The settings are easy to change and the prop seems durable, at least in open ocean running. We purchased ours though EQ Marine but West Marine...

Fuel Tank(s?) on the new 25

We were told that the plastic tanks had venting problems only (inadequate vent diameter) so the factory switched to a new design aluminum tank (107 gal.). Our boat was one of the first to get the new tank design. We've experienced no fill problems (you can fill it as fast as the pump can...

    Radar Arch Location

Quick tip #1 when working with 3M 5200, have several paper towels and a can of WD-40. Works great for cleaning exess stuff from around the sealed area and from your hands as well. Just be careful not to get it under the seal or you wont have a seal, WD-40 dissolves uncured 5200 with ease. :D
