    Low Ball!

Years ago when I was a Realtor I had a small house listed for 115k. The sellers told me that absolutely NO WAY would they accept anything less than 110k. An offer came in for 100k. The sellers practically ripped my arm off to accept. Ya never know! Martin.

CD25 Want vs Need (from the factory)

Nice read Tosca, thank you. My message is.........a 15lb (or less) anchor is quite doable retrieving by hand if you do not have a windlass. Anything heavier than 15lb, yep, get a windlass. Martin.

CD25 Want vs Need (from the factory)

I had a front roof mounted spotlight, operated from the cabin helm. Used it once in 6 years, I wouldn't bother if I was you. Also found it got in the way if you keep a dinghy up there. As others say, go with a hand held. Martin.

Thoughts on ordering a new C-Dory

My neighbor bought a used 16' C-Dory in great shape plus a trailer. for 5k Cad. (The lady's husband had died and she wanted it gone). The outboard was older. He had a junker fishing tub with a newer 40hp Yami on it in his garage. He switched the outboards over and sold his junker boat with the...

CD25 Want vs Need (from the factory)

Just checked the tech sheets myself. A 15lb Manson Supreme is good for boats to 30ft. I'll also add that this anchor never failed me. First thing I did when I changed from a C-Dory to a pocket trawler (wifes idea) was change the anchor to a Manson Supreme. I never trust a Bruce which is what...

CD25 Want vs Need (from the factory)

I will add my 2 cents on the windlass requirement. I had a 15lb Manson Supreme anchor, 50' quarter inch high test chain, and a couple of hundred feet of rope on my 22. Never had a problem or felt any strain on my back hauling it up by hand in a sitting position. Check the MS tech sheets and...

I Ditto what Harvey says. Martin.

    2001 honda 40 hp

In the history of the C-Brats forum, it is probably the most discussed subject. There are no winners. You will not get a "single" guy to admit, "I wish I had twins", or vice-versa. I do love the subject though, and if you are going to get involved, put on some kevlar body armour and a hard...

    C-Dory Sightings

I had dinner with George in Nanaimo a couple of days ago. He is very happy living on his 34' sailboat at Newcastle marina. When winter arrives he moves into his condo. Martin.

    why Honda's on C Dory's

Seems to me, south of the border prefer Honda's, north of the border, Yamaha's. Maybe it's something to do with servicing and spare parts. Martin.

    2001 honda 40 hp

Hi Harvey, There are so many more positives with twins. The "single" guys don't know what they are missing. Martin.

    2001 honda 40 hp

I had twin 40 Yamis. Both right hand screw. I did not notice any prop walk in reverse. Martin.

    HP ratings

Like most boaters I dislike paying boat insurance. Shelling out a few hundred bucks every year and waving goodbye to it is no fun. But here comes the BUT in capital letters. But what If someone were to hit me, I sure hope they have insurance. What if you cause an accident? Does not matter...

    HP ratings

Reading through these messages I see in some of them a similar thread. "Instead of 50hp twins, I want 60hp twins but the sticker says 115hp max" Or in the case of a single motor, "Why can't I have a 120hp engine instead of a smaller one"? In both scenarios the new generation more powerful...

    Seapiper 35

IMO the bimini framework does nothing for the clean lines of the boat. Also no mention of a dinghy or davits. I guess you are on your own for that one. I would rather pay the extra money and go for a proven line of mini trawlers. This could be one of those lemons that cease production after...

    Seapiper 35

I know about 5% of what Doctor Bob knows. The first thing I thought was, yup this sucker is going to roll around with its length and narrow beam. Enjoyed looking at the pictures though. Martin.

    All chain rode?

I read somewhere that a boat should have a minimum length of chain equal to one and a half times the length of the boat. So for my 22 I opted for 50' of chain, allowing me to get more rode into the anchor locker and less weight in the bow. I must add, I did not have a windlass and pulling up...

    C-Dory 16 Angler: ideas for a 3rd seat?

I'll post back here with updates, to help the next new 16' owner ;) - Steve PS: But before that, we're going to name our new Angler. We're thinking of: "Behemoth". But we're not sure there's enough room on the hull to spell it out ;) I wanted to name our boat "Bum Squeaker" because...
