Sam,
I have written procedures for replacing the hatch lens and will share that with you via PM. Where I live in Virginia, there is a plastic shop within 20 minutes of my home, so I had them cut the lens. I have cut others before with good results, but I removed the risk of me fracturing the...
Gerhard,
There is a Honda dealer/repair facility in Yorktown, VA, that is absolutely the best of the best. They only work on Honda outboards and are truly the best experts on the East Coast of the USA.
I would recommend taking your boat to them. They will troubleshoot and provide the best...
TStrong,
Good on you for doing the homework and weeding out a boat that you have clear evidence of it, being a fraud. When you started posting, one thing that was unusual, was the fuel tank. Based on the year that your were told, it would not have had a fiberglass molding that contained...
C-Wolfe,
Maybe the hub of the propeller has spun out. When this happens, the prop will act normal when checked by hand and will also idle pretty normal. When you increase speed, the prop will turn, but will slip and the prop will not go up in RPM, while the engine still can.
Welcome to this fantastic group. Lots of satisfied C-Dory owners, with lots of stories, lot of general guidance and plenty of technical advice.
I lived with open boats most of my life and enjoyed most all of them. Once I got a boat that I could drive from inside, I then got to go boating all...
Ken O,
I overhaul outboards for a hobby and have worked on every brand and size. I've got a least 10, that I am finishing up at this time.
After YEARS of failures and seeing corrosion from minor to major, my solution to ensuring that a fastener comes apart in the future is to use Tef-Gel on...
Tom & Marina,
My CC26 has the same wash down system. I too scratched my head, when I saw it and came up with a solution. I’m heading out for a day of sailing, but when I get home, I’ll go to my dock to look at my hose set up.
Larry,
PM David, owner of Almas Only, as he has the 22 with the 100 and has it dialed in. David is also in VA.
PS, come go cruising with us in the future.
Sad news… Such a wonderful man, with a wealth of knowledge, that he freely shared, with everyone.
I now wonder, how many other groups, has he done the same for. He will be missed by many and never forgotten, because of his contributions.
James,
99.9% of the time, the problem is that the steering cable has a rod at the end of it, that moves back and forth, inside of the tilt tube on the outboard. The tilt tube is steel and the steering cable rod is stainless steel. The lubrication between those two components bind, once the...
In addition to the comments made by ssobol, twins don't provide the total horsepower output of the stated/rated HP. This is due to drag, created by dragging two outboard lower units through the water.
I like ssbbol have swim platforms, with pull out ladders on both side of my 26 and also on my...
Alaskadory,
Congratulations on the new boat. That trip is huge for a boat that you didn't know yet, but obviously you figured things out quickly. Hope that you continue to enjoy future journeys with your new C-Dory.
Pelican,
Electric trim tabs are way better than hydraulic. The first controllable trim tabs were hydraulic and pretty much all that was out there, When electric tabs became available, it was a game changer. All of the moving parts are in the cylinder, that controls the tab. From there to the...
