    Bimini and other deck options

I felt best served by a custom-made bimini that offered full cockpit coverage (sides) yet could be easily detached and stored in the cockpit when not needed. Check out my album for pics and if you want to see the real thing contact Jerry on C-Nile (he bought my boat last year).

    Slips/Moorage in Portland Oregon

I used Tomahawk Island marina for ten years but now am at Hayden Bay. Like Jerry and Rob said the traffic getting to Hayden Island (Jantzen Beach) can problematic. A slip on Marine Drive east of Salty's would eliminate that. As with most things you get what you pay for.

    MAN OVER BOARD!!!!!!

When offering guests PFDs I inevitably hear something like, 'But I'm a strong swimmer...' My reply is, 'If you go 'in' and you're not wearing a PFD your first priority is keeping afloat (swimming). If you're wearing a PFD you can then go to your next priority (like getting rescued, helping...

Stay with the 22 or go big?

A major turning point for us was when we realized we were doing most all of our cruising at 8 knots. And the second major point was when we realized we couldn't take/have the whole family (the kids left town after high school then returned recently with spouses and children) on our CD-22. I...

    Gavins Point Dam

Downstream from Yankton the river has the taste of wildness to it that is nonexistent on the channelized river below Ponca State Park. The river is a series of meanders, chutes, and backwaters dominated by sandbars with an occasional heavily-timbered island. The river channel varies in width...

    Gavins Point Dam

Good luck....there's no real channel until Ponca.
