    13 ft Heavy Duty Kaboat

Good morning, Bob. Do you happen to still have this hitch mount? I’m planning to get one of these davits (if for nothing else than a MOB tool for my small wife should I go plop, but also for an eventual dinghy, generator, coolers, etc— three persistent disc issues following a rear-ending many...

    Canvas

I tried photographing with my phone camera the different levels of visibility, but couldn't. It wanted to either focus perfectly through and it was easier to see out my phone than in real life, or it focused on the fabric and it looked worse. I'm sure there's a setting where you can adjust the...

    Canvas

Sharing a temporary video sharing link (happy to send a new one to anyone finding this down the road if it's expired, just PM me). A non-scientific experiment showing wind through Textilene 90 vs Phifertex Plus vs Textilene Open Mesh. Canvas maker said to use a candle on one side and blow...

    Filling up

I, too, found out the hard way with my 22 that at 3/4 a tank (marked and visible on the tanks in front of you filling up) that it will fire up a foot out of the fill hole and splash everywhere. Well surely that won’t happen again, not when I’m waiting for it… it did. So now I just baby it and...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

I just was minutes before you posted, humorously (and thank you). You have the only 22 I've been able to find with the aft curtains angled back (like Katmai) and eeking out a bit extra bimini length. Is it tricky putting the curtains on from inside, with your rear supports passing through the...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

This shows the line formed with fully tilted out, and with just/mostly tilted out of the water (still leaving a tiny buffer between the tape- representing a curtain and/or table, and the cowl). Both well within the lazarette body. I could go a little further back and have the prop out, most of...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

Thanks, Stephen. Yep, I saw an arch one, a rectangular slot one, and one that just had a baggy aft curtain they tilted right into it until taut (and, when down, also pushed it back with a cooler until taut). I hear you on the "just do that and cover the bug holes when you stop", as well as the...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

Still trying. If tilted to just be out of the water (not fully up) and using the slant back snap attachment locations, a curtain could extend up to a bimini bow fully behind the lazarettes, but then you have the triangle tubes. Alternatively, I now see I could maybe have the bimini go back all...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

Unwrapped the boat today. With this outboard (2019 Honda 90) there’s just no way to tilt it up and out of the water while also keeping the cowl behind the lazarettes— not even close. Pics show: one pic fully tilted up; one pic tilted just out of the water (fist pic); and one pic tilted just...

    Canvas

Did you have a frame / bimini already? (Let’s do my canvas arbitrage idea from a few posts back, hehe) May it bring you many dry and story worthy memories… I, meanwhile, flip flopped back to the 90% mesh. After chickening out on that idea, I went to finalize my design and get a price for...

    Canvas

Chickened out & going with sunbrella & clear vinyl… gotta prevent the worst outcome which is cold wind and rain for the shoulder seasons up here. But, paring back the features for cost concerns. Will do a taller and vented awning connector piece with bug netting, clear sides no netting “smile”...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

Thanks. I saw some like that, where it's almost like a mailbox opening for the motor to poke its head into the enclosure. It wouldn't be bug or waterproof, though, without some next suspenders/belt layer. But that might be the way to think through it.

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

The tan one is from C-Eagle. Here are some more pictures showing how they did it. I think they just made the aft curtain "baggy" to allow the motor to push into it, because it also looks like they have a cooler pushing backwards from inside the cockpit at another point (unsure if it's snapped or...

Photo Request: 22 Extended Bimini Aft Curtain

Well I've found the pictures necessary to "prove" it can't be done "on the same plane" (were I able to get on my boat now, it would have been much faster!). I've seen a few splashwell tables that, for a single motor, have a notch cut into the back to allow tilting. That notch is forward of the...

    Where are all the Marinauts?

I had this picture saved from the Rosborough owner's group, showing a Marinaut rafted up with a RF-246. Doesn't show a C-Dory, but still might be useful in comparing the scale from a computer if you're familiar with the RF-246 (and perhaps the difference between that and the C-Dory). EDIT-- hey...
