    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

Yeah...for $600 it's not a bad deal. Annualized that's like $50-$75. Problem is waiting the 4 weeks. Just about every good eating fish is in season right now - and tarpon season is in full swing. Going to get a Seatow membership, call a couple buds before I head out and see how she does...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

I went to my local Marine Part and started out with just getting the fuel pump rebuild kit - basically a bunch of gaskets. I took the pump in and showed it to the sales guy and he looked at both sides of the pump. There are two metallic pieces that should be "floating" - you an see it below...

Yup - not that exact product, more like this. They work as advertised.

    TomCat Fuel consumption

And all of the above is why I hang here in this forum; great details and comments. I wish all the forums I hang out in were this good.

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

10-4; interestingly I went the other way. From ethanol (87oct) to nonethanol (89oct). So for 13 years she ran on the cheap bad stuff. This was trip 4-5 of the year, only after I ran two fill ups of the good stuff did the incident occur. Perhaps it is a coincidence, but just seemed odd -...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

Seems I'm working my way backwards, but an external check of the fuel hoses looks "fine". Plugs are less than 3 months old. That said I checked the fuel clip - worked like a champ. Spring was good - nothing visually wrong. I took a small screw driver to the ball to see if there was any...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

So after sleeping on it a night and checking out the photos again that sediment/blacks specs has to go somewhere. It doesn't appear to be making it to the engine's fuel filter. So I'm wondering if there's a filter/screen in the ball pump itself. Or perhaps even on the water fuel separator...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

Some good advise...and to be implemented (hopefully). Apologies in advance for the extra large photos - seems I'm getting to lazy to resize to 800x600. So I took the engine internal fuel filter off. About as clean as she gets. Those two black specs were at the bottom of the filter. Other...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

We have several good mechanics over here...may be the better part of valor just to have them give it a look over. Stay tuned...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

All good suggestions, and comments. Fuel was 1/2 tank. I've run it lower. Tank is built in. How can I tell if anti siphon valve or ASV? Pretty sure vent is OK. I'll doublecheck. Fuel separator was replaced 6 months ago. No sputtering and has run fine since replacement many times...

    Yamaha 90 stalling - 89 vs 87 Octane

OK - so let me come clean here...I've been hanging out on this forum for quite some time. Looked at several boats, even called on buying a trailer for one, but I'm not a C-Dory guy [yet]. With that in mind I have a quasi general outboard engine question regarding gasoline. I have a 2003 2...

    Biiiiiig Fish Story

Pretty cool stuff. Here's an article of as fella catching a Goliath Grouper (says 500 lbs, but I dunno). http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/05/2 ... 68864.html I was looking at going from some tarpon off Anna Maria Island in the kayak this year...maybe. It's pretty common now a days to see...

    c-dory 22 Center Console

No experience on the boat you described, but IMHO if you're just looking at eco-tours on sheltered water then a pontoon boat should be in the mix. Huge platform, plenty of seating, can customize easily, can get shade...and they come in a variety of sizes. I think the biggest I've seen was...

    Tallon Sysyems Marine

Dave, Looks like I'm 5 min down the road from you. I'm in Fishhawk. I'll take the system - when's a good time for pickup? On a diff note would it be possible to see your boat and or talk boats with you? I'm easing into purchasing (waiting on some things to pan out at home - little things...

    baitwell question...

Anyone have a feel for the size of the baitwell sizes on the 22, 23, 25? Gallons or approx size is good. I'm assuming that they are rounded and don't have any corners - is that true? I really need to get out and see the boats. Managed to see a Tomcat in March or so, but no other C-Dories...

X2; heck I even know some kayakers who pack. Duck hunters...you better give them lotsa room. Then there are my people who "for a green card will cut you real good".

    Night boating

My $.02...prior to having a decent sonar with GPS I would go out night fishing. Problem we have around here is that people throw out crab traps in channels. So I always make a mental note on where/what side they are on. I've also seen construction booms extend 100's of feet out - another...

Inspecting an older c-dory before purchase

Yet again a great thread for potential buyers. Thanks for the feedback guys. Added this to my favorites for the if/when I pull the trigger. Started out looking at Ranger tugs ("when the kids get out of college I can do that"), bump down to Tomcat ("hey in 3-5 years I can do that"), bumped...
