Cheap shore power, Battery charger = dead battery

:?: I followed a fellow C-Brat's advice and installed a poor man's shore power by using a dock power cord and plugging it into a GFI four plug outlet box inside the cabin next to the helm seat. I then plugged in a ProSport -12 two battery charger and wired it to my house and starter...

    Bulkhead door lock

Thanks everyone who responded. It sounds like the prudent thing is to take up Sea Wolf's suggestion and just install a cam lock and leave the original lock unlocked. Allan

    Bulkhead door lock

I apoligize if this thread has posted twice. I didn't think it got thru the first time. Has anyone had trouble with the rear bulkhead door lock on a CD22? Since day one, I've had trouble locking the door. Sometimes I would go weeks without a problem and then spend 20 minutes trying to lock...

Thomas My 90 Honda manual calls for oil and gear oil change every 100 hours. :? On a long cruise, I'd be changing about every three weeks. Allan

    Advances in Radar technology

Charlie I apologize if I may have overstepped when including you in this topic. I didn't mean to imply that you needed to move the item, only that it helped me describe my question . I should have kept it generic . Sorry  Allan

    Advances in Radar technology

Captain's Choice is selling a Ratheon RL70 display unit, new in original box. Great price but I had to pass on the deal because of other considerations. After sleeping on this last night or not sleeping (I hate to pass on a good deal) several questions came to mind. One question is, although...

    winterizing questions

I'm trying to understand something here but I'm having a problem. I'm told to keep the outboard trimmed down in the water so it doesn't freeze. My understanding of the bubble systems is it keeps the water from freezing by agitating the water but what protects the water in the intake and...

    Winter and 90 Honda

If I leave the motor trimmed up, will the gear case drain suffieciently to prevent it from freezing or must it be left in the down position? I'm contemplating keeping the boat in the water this winter and using it on the good days. Allan

    Love that dirty water....

Good game? Maybe for BoSox fans but I think Cleveland fans would differ with you. Now the series was great and exciting. Great comeback by Boston. As a Yankee fan, remembering 2004, I can feel for Cleveland fans. While not dismissing the final score, I wonder what might have been the outcome...

    A Couple C-Dory Prices

:sad Bob & Bill, Where did you get your info that Cutter is no longer a dealer? I purchased the Jeanie P from them in March and have kept in touch. Two weeks ago I talked to them about winter storage around the end of November or early Dec and they said nothing about dropping the line. It...

    When to stay in port!

Charlie - Your right. I overnighted at Goose Bay Marina off of Port Tobacco and finally gave up and slipped it a Aquia Creek. Thomas- I was about 2.5 hours into the ebb tide with the wind running with it. I hate to think how high the waves would have been if it was flooding ! Allan

    When to stay in port!

 Tuesday night, marine forecast ok. I took a 60 mile trip down the Potomac River 9-11 knots on calm water- just beautiful!!! Very tired when I pulled into the dock for top off gas when another boater was talking about bad weather the that night and next few days. Too tired to turn...

    Canvas back storage

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of wraping them in a blanket. I also like the Cabelas duffel bag idea to conserve space. I might incorporate the two and use both depending on day trip or longer. Allan

    Canvas back storage

:D What do most of you do with the canvas back covers when your out motoring and don't need them? I'm thinking of getting some kind of stuff sack to roll them up in. They would be wiped down and dry before doing this.Any thoughts? Thanks Allan

Cabin fan shuts off when throttling up ?

I recently installed a Camano 3 speed Bora fan over the helm seat. It seemed to work and now shuts off when rpm's go over 1500 rpm in forward and and throttleup in reverse. Any ideas? Thanks. Allan :smilep
