    Raymarine vs. Garmin

Say for the Great Loop, which would you choose, Raymarine or Garmin? Wondering pros and cons of their chartplotters, chart differences, ease of operation. Thanks

    Bow Anchoring

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, but, The Villages (FL), highest rate of STDs in the country. But if you're on your boat all the time should be safe I guess. Oh, the things that keep me awake when I should be sleeping, never should have bought a boat. :?

    Steering

Just looking to add to my limited boat knowledge. My stern drive bowrider has what I would call power steering, very little effort required. I read here of hydraulic steering on an outboard. Is there power assisted hydraulic steering and non-assisted types or just one type? Thanks, Jake

    Options for a New C-Dory 22

Bob, I had a strong feeling you'd done it all. :) :) Must be nice to have lived such a full life, you make me jealous. You must have been one skinny kid. :) Unless you want to dredge the bottom for a minute or two, I think it takes about 200 hp to get me up on the skis these days. :)...

    Options for a New C-Dory 22

Bob, Thanks for the great advice based on many years of experience. But sometimes I think you C-Dory owners just don't spend enough time pulling "tubers" and skiers to determine the best boat/engine combination for all applications.  But maybe Bob does down there in sunny...

    New Marinaut Finally Home

Also, 1. I think the black "frames" on the tinted side windows of the Marinaut make the windows appear even larger compared to a white frame. 2. I don't think any boat maker has a patent on the pilothouse style boat. 3. Personal preference. I'm not looking for a hard core fishing boat...

    New Marinaut Finally Home

The bigger the window the better for me. I like to see the sea. :) Not a fan of skinny "jail" windows.

    New Marinaut Finally Home

And I only asked because, having already looked at many pics, I couldn't see any major differences in cabin and cockpit dimensions. My eyes aren't so good. :) :)

    CD25 Cockpit Floor Leak

Bob, Great explanation and pictures. Really pinpoints the problem and solution. One question I have (which I realize is obvious to you guys) is where is the water coming from which Steve describes as a leak? As always, thanks for your help. Jake

    New Marinaut Finally Home

Haven't seen a Marinaut 215 or C-Dory 22 in person myself. I wonder how do the "cabin/hull proportions" differ between the two?

    Anchor/windlass operation

I had this problem with the car, so I don't let her drive the boat. :)

Bay Star vs. Sea Star on 22 Cruiser: Understanding the diffs

And I should add that Les has also used Sea Star on the Marinaut. I would assume at customer request or maybe he has changed what is standard.

Bay Star vs. Sea Star on 22 Cruiser: Understanding the diffs

Per the web site, Les uses BayStar on the Marinaut. Just to save $250? I don't know, would guess he feels it is a very reliable system.

    Interesting new cruiser

The Mainship 32 looks like a winner to me. Several engine/drive choices. Just add some opening windows and I would be quite happy. Jake

Backing Up The Marinaut Into Slips In The Northeast -- Not!

OK, sorry but help me picture this rafting up at a marina. Same as rafting up in open water? So you have to venture across others' boat(s) to get to the dock? So what happens when the guy in the middle or the guy on the dock leaves and no one else is there? I can just picture a bunch of...

Lessons and other things; Desolation Sound

Great lessons learned, thanks for sharing. But it does make me wonder if I could ever survive a long trip. As for the generator, I would have started it right back up and let it run for an hour.
